Christie Blasts Rand Paul: 'He's Politicizing America's National Security'

As seen on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace

On "Fox News Sunday" today, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie accused Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) of politicizing the country's national security.

Christie said Paul is wrong about the National Security Agency's mass surveillance program.

"He's wrong and what he's done has made American weaker and more vulnerable," Christie stated. "And he's done it and then cut his speeches and put them on the Internet to raise money off of them. He's politicizing America's national security."

Shannon Bream asked the 2016 GOP presidential candidate if he thinks Paul "doesn't genuinely hold those positions."

"I have no idea," Christie replied. "But I know what he did with his positions after he made them and he used them to raise money off the Internet and it's wrong. And his position is wrong. And he wouldn’t know that his position's wrong, because he's never had the responsibility to do it."

Christie explained that unlike Paul, he has had the responsibility to do it.

"I've had to review applications under the Patriot Act, under Section 215," he said. "I know what it's like to interact with the FISA court. The fact is that we can do this and protect civil liberties."

Christie asserted that "Paul's conduct" has made the American people "weaker and more vulnerable to [an] attack."

Video here.

Getting criticized by Christie helps Rand. Christie is extremely unpopular with the GOP base.

Christie and Rubio had dinner with Mitt Romney July 3rd.

Right, but I'm not sure what that has to do with what I said. Christie is very unpopular with rank and file GOP voters, especially the most conservative voters. I think being criticized by him is beneficial to Rand.

The point being is: I think there is a concerted effort to have these meetings so they can come together and each one will go after Rand at some point. Mitt also will meet with Jeb up in Kennebunkport, Maine this week.

No news of Mitt meeting with Rand any time soon.

So, Christie says Rand Paul politicizes defense, which already happens to be part of the government, has views on it popular enough to get donations not from corporations, but from We, the People, and presumably other people don't, including Christie and (just to pull a name out of the hat) Lindsay Graham.

And that the Fourth Amendment, which is what Rand Paul was defending, is bad for America.

Chris Christie also called Shannon Bream 'sir'. Does anyone with working eyes also believe that there's a good reason why the lady should be called 'sir'? Just because Christie says something is no reason to believe it. At all.

Politicizing our national security? More like following the Constitution, and actually believing in the foreign policy the Founders held close to more like.
