Christian Yoga? It's a Stretch...(Is Yoga Demonic? Yes, it is.)

Does this have anything to do with why some christians are against dancing?

Or having sex in anything except the missionary position?

Will these activities also cause one to be possessed by demons?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Yes the postures are one thing, and the article even says there is nothing wrong with stretching, exercise and the like. But if you set out to do "Christian yoga" you are not being a Christian. You must completely separate the postures and stretches from their yoga context, even calling it yoga is already giving in to the demonic nature of it. Read the full article HB, you obviously haven't if you only can quote that.
I read it. The arguments are tenuous at best. Western schools of yoga don't get into the religious aspects. Most people clear their minds as much as possible when doing yoga. Watch the Yoga X DVD in the P90X program. The article is more suitable for The Onion than a serious Christian discussion.

Christians are not against dancing. There is nothing in Scripture that bars dancing. Certain type of dancing, however, can be sinful. That doesn't mean dancing it and of itself is sinful.

Also, there is nothing in Scripture that says how you must have sex. It simply says sex should be within the covenant of marriage. The Song of Solomon even talks about oral sex and does not depict it as sinful.

Easter is historically a pagan holiday, but look at the huge banner his church's website is using to advertise it: http://marshill.com/

Clearly Mark Driscoll and his church are pagans?

Easter for many Christians is an important time--Christ died for us...I do not worship Ishtar or the easter bunny. America is filled with pagan worshiping, and many do even know it.

Exactly, the fact that Easter has been perverted with pagan idolatry does not mean it is a pagan feast.

I'm pretty sure you just made Jeremy's point. Easter was co-opted by christians. There is no reason that yoga can't be the same way.

I'm glad all christians feel this way then.

Although I though that whole Sodom and Gomorrah thing was about sex?

I mean, I know what sodomy is, but I could never figure out what gomorramy was.

These are the same type of people who are all anal retentive when a gay person says they are getting married, they get way too caught up in the definition of words. If a gay couple or a swing couple gets married in a church or otherwise, do you think God recognizes it? Go to a different church if you don't like it.

To most people, yoga just means stretching and breathing. Very few people take the religious side seriously, even the ones who say namaste and shit. I'm pretty sure signing up at your local gym for a class that is called yoga, and doing the stretches and breathing, isn't going to get God angry at you.

Sorry whoever wrote that is a child in an adult body still reciting Sunday school stories like their truth.

He needs to grow up and stop leading others to ridiculous falsehoods and false teachings.

Attacking the author instead of his arguments...

His arguments aren't worth a mention. That's how ludicrous they are. IMO

Good to know. Then why bother posting in the thread? Isn't it against forum guidelines?

Content Guidelines: The following guidelines regulate site content:

Posts which violate this rule are subject to deletion or a thread split, if the moderator finds that the "split" thread would not promote "low value posting" and would not otherwise violate forum guidelines.

Or do rules only apply to us non-mod mundanes?

To be honest I thought your post was to demonstrate utter ridiculousness that comes from some facets of Christianity. I'll happily exit now that I know your defending him :)

I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

Dancing was not permitted in my church. Neither was drinking, smoking, gambling, anything that could lead to sex was forbidden.

I never liked yoga, I prefer pilates.

I personally drink, but I understand that for many people drinking is an addiction which is a sin. Also smoking is a sin if you let it enslave you. Same goes for gambling. Dancing can be sinful if it's purpose is to incite lust.

But to outlaw those all I think is ridiculous. Particularly dancing and drinking, especially when Jesus drank alcohol!!!

Depends on which church you go to. I know evangelicals who have never danced because they were taught it's a sin. There are also some groups/churches that have taught hugging or kissing before marriage is a sin.
