Hightower Vows to Bring Common Sense Solutions to the Kentucky State Legislature

Auburn, Kentucky - January 31, 2012 - Republican Chris Hightower filed paperwork today to enter the race for state representative to serve the 16th district.

Born and raised in Logan County, he seeks to run an issues-based campaign highlighting the $41 billion state debt, the $50+ billion in unfunded state pension liabilities, improvements to education, term limits and a host of other matters of concern to voters.

"I'm running to defuse the debt-bomb that is set to detonate. I look forward to discussing tax reform which will ignite an economic surge, reversing years of damage caused by the status quo. I'd like to ask for your vote." he said.

In the words of the great 21st century philosopher, Flava flav...... yeeeeaaaahhhhh boiiii

Anyone have details on the district and the race as it stands today? (Any incumbent, GOP Friendly district, any primary)

3 to 1 Dem to GOP. Hightower the last name has huge positive. No incumbent as she is running for State Senate. Chris and the Dem are actually friends. His Dem opposition is a big fan of Paul Krugman and Elizabeth Warren.

Chris practically made Rand's campaign happen in the early days, by finding ways to get the media interested in Rand, and working non-stop to keep things going. He'd often work the entire day and then be up at 1AM at home, still working, entering checks and such sent to the campaign... he never stopped. And without him, I have to say the first polls may well not have shown Rand so close to Grayson, which first began the snowball effect.

It should be obvious I think very highly of him. Would be awesome to see what he could do in the state legislature.

Silly question, but who is Chris Hightower? Is he just a RPF member/RP supporter?
My political journey was ignited by Ron's 2007-2008 campaign, although I followed politics somewhat before. Like many here, Ron lit a fire in me, politically speaking. I remember coming to this forum everyday just to find the latest video or story during the 2008 campaign. I attended the March on DC, I made it to the Rally for the Republic, somewhere along the way I found myself in a Liberty Book Club with Rand Paul, who only lived one county north of me. Also I attended Mises events in Ala, studied their site and read the greats (still do), went back to WKU and took economics classes. I knew I wanted to run for office or help someone (worth helping) get elected after attending R4R. That turned out to be Rand. Of course there came a point when the media forgot who the candidate was and threw tar on me. And one thing any staffer should know on a campaign: if you bring heat from the press, bye-bye.

Thanks for the support! And those on the fence, perhaps I can earn back your respect, if nothing else.
