Chinese plan to boost 'masculinity' with PE classes sparks debate

BEIJING (Reuters) - A plan in China to get boys to do more sports as a way of making them more manly has reopened a debate between those who urge more diversity and those backing a more masculine society.

The education ministry has said it aims to increase the number of physical education teachers and revamp gym classes to boost the "masculinity" of students.

The plan was in response to a proposal last May by a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, an advisory body to the government, calling for help for boys who have become too delicate, timid and effeminate after being schooled mostly by women teachers, the ministry said.

A hashtag on the ministry's plan has chalked up 1.5 billion views on the Weibo social media platform by Wednesday.

"It's hard to imagine such effeminate boys can defend their country when an outside invasion looms," said one Weibo user.

Like most Asian nations, China has a traditional bias for sons and decades of a one-child policy has led to what some people see as a tendency for parents to molly-coddle their boys.

But the idea of getting boys to toughen up through physical activity has gained currency in recent years.

Some affluent parents, worried that their sons are too fragile, are sending them to private boot camps that promise to turn them into "real" men through army-style drills.

Feminist scholar Li Jun said the ministry's plan reflected traditional attitudes on the sexes.

"The proposal has represented some stereotypes in China on male masculinity, which is against gender equality and diversity, as it sees being effeminate as negative and dangerous while masculinity is useful to the Chinese nation," Li told Reuters.

Yang Li, 25, a Beijing-based marketing manager, said the plan could lead to more bullying. Yang said he was once scolded by a male teacher for walking in his school yard like a model on a catwalk.

State media, trying to calm the debate, published reports this week saying certain temperaments and characteristics should not be associated with either sex.

The Xinhua news agency, quoting experts, building "masculinity" should not be about emphasising gender differences but about developing healthy physiques and inner strength.

China is going to kick our ass.

They already have.

Open Google Earth or search any major Chinese city in a browser and then click the street view icon to see the street view locations. Go and look at any of them. Most of that wasn't there 30 years ago and the primary method of transportation was a bicycle.

Compared to the latest in China, US Cities are old and tired. The infrastructure is breaking down (no money for that because of the endless wars) - who needs it anyway!

The US is a dead empire. Instead of pissing away LITERALLY TRILLIONS of dollars bombing and invading lands 8,000 miles away, China spent on themselves.

But the District of Criminals does no wrong, and now they are attempting to convince dumbed-down Americans that China is a terrible place.

Here's a random shot of Shenzhen - which has made Hong Kong almost obsolete. And Shenzhen is just a part of the Pearl River Delta megalopolis - which has a population of almost 100 million people.

China- not the US - is the reason solar panels are affordable and they are going to do the same to the hydrogen fuel cell industry- before most Americans even know what a fuel cell is.

Dying empires are sad places.

Americans could learn from the Chinese- but present day Americans are too stupid for that.

Meanwhile, here is Biden saying that the US military is going to focus on “maternity flight suits” for pregnant women. Because it’s important that pregnant women are able to drop into enemy territory during wartime. Biden made the statement right before he forgot where the hell he was and the name of the general standing behind him.

Talk about an international embarrassment. It's almost impossible to think of a more effective way of killing a people without actually killing them directly. Stick pregnant women into an enemy force.

It's like they're taking Sparta as a model and going 180 degrees in the other direction.

Hmmm...what I take away from your post is this:

China First nationalism + cultural and racial homogeneity + Communist central planning, is the way of the future.

DING! You caught a commie. He's been on the site 10 years too, that's disturbing...

No fan of the US economy either, but China's collapse is going to be way worst then America's... The US problem is the insane mismanagement of government and corporate sector, not the profitability of companies on a wide scale per say. Big corporations besides Amazon have stopped spending into R&D where going all out on stock buybacks. It is almost like they are trying to let China pass them, but they don't seem able too. China's problem is both government, but more importantly, their corporate sector is completely useless and a giant black hole. There all money losing companies over there, there is so much liquidity that competition has to subsidize every consumption, government subsidizes transport and other costs. It created an environment where they had to sell a dollar for 90 cents just to get business. In a normal environment, where free market rules, many of the companies would of collapse over there, prices would of been adjusted to include slight profits to continue being in business, and the economy would of eventually picked back up after pain. But because they are a centralized economy in a fiat system, they can just keep conjuring digits into computers to keep the ponzi going further then free market gravity would usually allow. Mortgage per income for households is around 360% for the Tier 1 cities, and Beijing is slightly higher then that. If you're not a millionaire or billionaire in China, you're broke, that's how insane the inflation is. It started in the early 2000s.

The main problem with China, and that's why I laugh when people honestly get freaked out about China, is that their entire economy is based on the biggest ponzi scheme the world has ever seen, and it's so massive that nobody can save it. They either die a slower form of hyper inflation by continually printing and borrowing more until the music stops, or massive deflation by accepting defeat or when the government gets overturned and chaos ensues. In 2019, their total debt increased 7 folds since 08. If I remember well, from 08 to 19, their corporate sector accounted for 70 percent of all new debt globally. The eugenics pumped madddd money in China after 08 in hopes of surpassing the US. China went on a borrowing binge to explode it's corporate sector, and it was a massive flop. When Rothschild owned Japan, they were suppose to surpass the US and blah blah blah in the 80s, same story with the eugenics owned China. Winnie is a stooge for Switzerland now, his survival depends on them.

US will get severe inflation once the establishment replaces the US dollar as the reserve currency, but it'll stabilize more or less after a big and long recession. Quality of life will go down but nothing to serious I believe. China will get a very hard collapse, the biggest economic collapse earth will ever see. The eugenics are blowing up American Pension Funds and European banks to create capital inflows into China... Anybody who "invested" into China in the last 3 years isn't suicidal, he's corrupt.

The faith of China is in the hands of the eugenics, if they pull the plug on them or lose clout, they are done. If the establishment gets overturned and they get convicted down the road for crimes against humanity, and assets forfeited, Chinese quality of life would become worst then North Africa or South America in no time.

I don’t claim to understand the whole economics of China, but I don’t see how I could possibly not cheer their attempts to pump masculinity into the male population by the way they are trying to. More sports and physical education to get boys out from their moms basement and developing in a healthy way? Win.

America needs that desperately.

I'd purpose physical work and appreciation for it over sports.

Young men need demanding tasks that they can accomplish as much as they need to be shown appreciation for their labors.

Sports teaches competition more than accomplishment, sports teaches abiding with rules instead of teaching using brains-n-brawn to achieve a goal that has real benefit, points on a scoreboard serve no real purpose and even the really young know that instinctively.

It's not a criticism, more a warning, that a nation state that is an enemy of ours, and just got done releasing a bioweapon on us that killed half a million US citizens, has correctly identified a societal problem that we suffer from as well and has made positive and proactive plans to counter it.

Meanwhile, we hand our boys dresses, tit growth hormones and scalpels to cut their dick's off with and tell them that is "normal".

In by-gone days sports taught team work. How to win with humility and lose with grace, before everyone got a participation trophy. I think a combination of both work and sports would benefit todays youth.

I remember back in 1963 when the "Presidents council on physical fitness" came to be.
We had all kinds of stuff in gym class that was new and hard to do.

How has that worked out?

How is this something the government should be doing?

You don't really buy that half a million tally, do you?

Unless of course they can keep the Ponzi scheme going...

With just about the whole world economy crashed, China saw a healthy economic growth of (an estimated) 1.8% in 2020.

There's some problems with your concept of their economy "being based on a ponzi scheme". The ponzi referred to is actually our dollar based ponzi scheme. They have been barrowing dollars to buy whatever they can. They have been buying hard assets with that barrowing, including gold. They can default tommorow and it wouldn't matter, because it's not like we'd be able to reposes their hard assets. They're going to ride it to the bottom. Why wouldn't they?

China might very well collapse at some point in the future, but it will not be before the US. China has most of the world's manufacturering capacity. We have abandoned factories and Amazon fulfilment centers selling products from China. The US elites sold out our country to build theirs. In those pictures of Chinese cities, you can see the development you paid for. Give it a few more years, and the you can use those for the IS except before and after will be reversed. The Japanese example is also flawed, because we never gave them all of our industry capacity.

They built their own economy, and sunk it with their central bank. If not for their unrestrained money printing, they would probably have overtaken the US. In many ways they're still a vasel state so it's not likely they would have been allowed to.

I'm no Chinese fan or communist apologist. Far from it. I understand the evils first hand. I was born in communist Czechoslovakia. My grandfather spent 13 years in labor camps as a political prisoner. Being dilussional about the situation, and thinking we are somehow superior isn't going to fix it. We're currently watching the communist indoctrination going through it's end games here in the US. This is exactly what Yuri Bezmenov warned us about. They're destroying us from within.
