Hi Cindy.. This strongarm mafiosa tactic will be halted. This is unconscionable and anybody saying to not follow up on this as there is not criminal complaint is wrong. This is called making a terroristic threat. It will get you put in jail in a heartbeat at the officers discretion.

Clearly he should have submitted this plan for our collective forum approval first. I say this shaves at least 1 basis point off our Florida poll numbers, we can't afford not to do what they tell us! That trouble-making lady should have kept her domestic dissident mouth shut. These are exactly the kind of juvenile 5 year old antics that will make us lose! We need to be more tactful. This was front page news in the Washington Post in the late 80's. There was the Jeff Gannon scandal recently. If yer not paying attention don't open your mouth and look like yer uninformed whilst pretending to a vast array of knowledge.

The meetup members who are also members of the REC, have a legitimate gripe with their own local party members.

They are currently only looking for a Public apology, and the returned funds for unused tickets.

Sounds fair and reasonable enough.

It's not about second place. It is a silly straw poll and that wins you nothing much. Romneys bought win got his name smeared in the local press for what he did. I'll bet he regrets spending $20,000 for bad press now.


Ron Pauls Straw Poll wins have not given him any outstanding Press either. The results are not the issue here.

This is about brave members of local RECs, taking action to clean up the shananigans within their local RECs.

They meet with, deal with and work with these people, on building up the local Republican Party, face to face in rooms every month.

How can they expect to re-build the name of the Republican party when they witness Republicans behaving dishonestly and do nothing about it?

Someone has to stand up and show what an honest republican with integrity looks and acts like. Paul has at the national level and it's time we stand behind him at the local level.

What is so hard to understand about that?

I'm freaking tired of people getting all excited when they see our sign waving, and get curious about Paul, just to see their faces turn sour when they find out he is with the Republican party.

The Republican Party has a bad name right now with the greater public.

People shy away from Republican Ron Paul because they now believe that all Republicans are a bunch of corrupt liars. So when some Decent paul supporters want to work to change that, some of you say, lying is no big deal, move on?

Are you out of your minds? It is a big deal and it's why the Democrats will win in 2008 if we do not take any action showing that not all Republicans are lying, corrupt, greedy power mongering bullies.

It's not okay with some of us and if Paul gets in, we won't tolerate the same sort of corrupt lying and bullying in D.C. either.

We need to get the people to beleive in us, and Paul and what we can do together to clean up government and political corruption, when we join forces and take action.

Not enough members of it, have done enough to clean it up and change it's reputation, through honest actions of integrity. They let it get this bad and it's why we are having a harder time converting Dems, Indies and 3rd people over to the Republican Party to vote for Paul.

I applaud these people for working to create positive change within the Republican party and for even being involved within their REC's. I am behind them 100%!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like this guy Ted is waaay out there.

As for a Ron Paul supporter being threatened by this FL REC Chair, it would be up to the RP supporter to file a criminal complaint and it would most likely be a low grade misdemeanor along the lines of harassment or assault (assault is the threat, battery is the physical harm).

As for the "voter fraud" that no doubt ocurred, I don't see criminal charges sticking since it was a straw poll. What could stick is a civil lawsuit for fraud and interference with a contractual relationship against those who voted multiple times and Romney's campaign if it can be proven his campaign planned the multiple voting. You need a damaged party, and that would be all the other campaigns. Thus, it would probably have to be another campaign, and not an individual, that would have to file the lawsuit to make it stick, and it would really look like sour grapes by the campaign that filed the lawsuit over a small straw poll.

With all that being said, I'd say this is all a waste of time unless there is a smoking gun that the Romney campaign endorsed and promoted the multiple voting. That should be exposed as it goes to Romney's character and how it relates to being president. If there is a smoking gun, I'm sure some media outlets would give it time and then Ghoul can use it in a TV ads against Willard.

As far as Civil suits go....

I really dont see a cause of action here... the straw poll was private...

For Fraud you must have
1. a false statement or action
2. known to be false, and with intent for others to rely on it
3. the statement was indeed relied on
4. and damages. (this is the element that I think is lacking)

What damages could they claim?

The only potential COA that I can see is the threat to the lady of bodily harm if she went public with the info.

Now, since there was no harmful or offensive contact, there is no battery.

For Assault you need the following elements:
1. an affirmative statement or action
2. that statement or action puts person in immenint apprehension of bodily harm

Now because the lady actually did go public with information, the second element is shot to pieces.. she obviously was not in any immemint apprehension of bodily harm because she went ahead an went public. She didnt believe his statement enough to refrain from doing what he threatened against.

The only other cause of action I can see here is maybe Intentional infliction of emotional distress...

Even though no assault, there can be IIED. If she can prove that his actions were in fact outrageous and reckless to the ordinary person. As if you told another person what happened they would exclaim "outrageous"

I see this as the only COA she has.... Therefore, not really worth suing...


As for Criminal, you must have a higher burden of proof, beyond a reasonable doubt. In a civil case, you only have to prove a, preponderance of the evidence.
