Stanford is a private university; the government is ultimately in charge of school accreditation. A lot of the people who use this program are uber-nerds who would probably be able to detect such an event. The program sends specific information between the Stanford Servers. Installing any program on your computer can make it less secure, including your operating system, but I don't think you have much to worry about. I don't have any concerns in this area.Is there a certainty that they can't use that program to spy on your computer? Is Stanford not run by the government or reports to them?
