Challenge: Can RPF forums keep Chris Hightower Draft page with more friends than Dem opp.

Since BamaFanNKy left me a "lovely" message with a negative rep on this thread: it seems funny that BamaFanNKy did appear at about the same time TruthisTreason disappeared. If they're not the same person, what's his deal about being so hypersensitive about even tame things written about Hightower?

Hightower was forced to resign from Rand Paul's Senate campaign in December of 2009 after his MySpace page was uncovered. The page contained an image posted by someone other than Hightower, of a lynched black man hanging from a tree, that Hightower weirdly decided not to delete. It also had some other stuff that was lame, but the media could make a big deal of ("KKK shirt.")

You are misconstruing what happened. He wasn't doing anything with that MySpace page. It isn't at all what you are implying that he chose "weirdly" not to delete. If you were neg-repped by someone for saying this, you damn well deserved it, in my opinion.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

You're being disingenuous. "Wasn't doing anything" was the reason for the whole thing. Again from the top, slowly for you:

1. There was an image of a dead black man hanging from a tree under the caption "happy ni**er day" at the very tip-top of the comments section of this MySpace page. It was left by someone else.
2. The picture was posted in January 2008.
3. This "controversy" started in December of 2009, and only then was the picture and its caption deleted.
4. The account had been logged onto between the time that the image from being posted (January 2008), and its deletion (December 2009.) Screenshots show someone logged on in March 2009.

That image was seen by that page's owner, and they were apparently peachy keen with it by nature of letting it stand. If it was my (non-existent) Facebook page, and someone posted that, you can damn-well bet I would delete it.

Don't play games.

I can unequivocally say that BamaFanNKy is not Chris Hightower.

And he's not sensitive about the topic, he just knows the circumstances surrounding the topic more than most folks. That, combined with his low tolerance for what he sees as excessive unwarranted criticism.. well, yeah.

Anyway, this isn't a thread about him. Let's get back to promoting the draft page.

YOu'd have to have a friend to post something first.

RonPaulFaninGA makes some good points and I respect his opinion.

However, right now there are 100 seats for State Rep up for election and only 140 people (roughly) have filed to run. As it stands right now, no one has filed to run in my district--the deadline is Tuesday. People are posturing but no one has filed the paperwork. Assuming I could win the primary (in May), there is no way the race can go negative in the general, as I know so much about the Democratic candidate (firsthand), it wouldn't be pretty.

If the media smears me a little, so be it. The primary has 1000 voters, I could meet nearly everyone, and they can decide for themselves if I'm a satanic racist with no appetite for silencing others on myspace.

Believe me, as far as me possibly derailing the campaign over those smears, no one felt worse, because no one worked as hard to get Rand elected, including Rand.

A humble response on the issues raised, and a realistic analysis of the race.

Here's the woman who says she's filing to run--her first campaign speech:

This was filmed tonight at the Logan County Lincoln Day Dinner. Sen. Rand Paul and Congr. Ed Whitfield were in attendance. As Sen. Paul told a story about the early days of his campaign, he mentioned me, to which I stood and received applause.--It was unexpected and much appreciated!

Run of the mill GOP candidate.
