SD & CD voting is already underway up near International Falls.

This is from facebook... "The convention chair at Koochiching County, Minnesota, Ted Lovdahl, urged attendees to only vote for the approved candidates for delegate this past Friday night."

As far as I understand it, it is illegal for anyone outside of the delegation to influence the delegation. Even having a "GOP nominating committee" itself is illegal. They aren't even supposed to "recommend" as it is considered "influencing". And you don't need to be interviewed by this bogus "nominating committee" either to be eligible to be a delegate.

Please spread this as the 2008 MN shenanigans are being attempted again in 2012.

Well its a slate everyone should expect this, its an old trick they used last cycle too. Just remember that you have a slate too, if our delegates really do outnumber them then their slate won't matter.

The point is, if you are part of the delegation, then you are allowed to create a slate. But the executive committee has no right to do this as a whole body claiming to be the "GOP Nominating Committee".

If anyone sees their chairman at any level in the upcoming district voting contests, be sure to remind everyone these tricks are illegal.

good to keep an eye on, also if there is some independent entity to report this to it seems worth doing.

Illegal? What laws. The GOP is a private organization....this has nothing to do with the state elections. They aren't using their ballots or services, so it is a private, organization matter. Just like caucuses. That is why caucuses don't have to follow any of the election laws....party primaries due (because they utilize the state's resources).

According to your photo, the process already took place Feb. 17 as it is dated. If that's the case, is it not a little too late to do anything?

Caucuses do cost taxpayers money as they set up by dates from the state legislatures...

You are correct. I'm alerting so others are aware of this before their SD's convene. These attempts will permeate throughout the system if people don't point it out.

It is in the state GOP bylaws. They are violating their own rules. It is the job of the citizenry to expose it because their re-elections are at stake.

The bottom line is you simply cannot influence the delegation unless you are part of it.

So then it isn't ILLEGAL? Wrong use of words there. It is against the state GOP rules, but not against the law. Big difference. That is saying something a team does in a football game that is against NFL rules is illegal. Huge difference.

No, the state GOP sets caucus dates. The only taxpayer money used is for the locations, but again they aren't subjected to election laws. Otherwise, some of them couldn't be held on Saturday's or held at all considering there is specific times polls must be open for.

It is illegal when it comes to their positions. They can be forced to step down if enough move in that direction.

The greater problem is that if this isn't nipped in the butt, Ron Paul will not win the delegate count in Minnesota. This tactic is going to also be used in other caucus states most likely. So people need to be aware of what is going on. The state campaigns knowing about it isn't enough. The people need to step forward when they see this happening.

Point out that they are not supposed to be doing what they are, and if they care about the positions they hold, they will stop.

After reading the State GOP bylaws and constitution, it doesn't seem like it is a State GOP matter. It is a matter handled at the BPOU level and you need to refer to the BPOU's bylaws or constitution to figure out what rules they are breaking.

Bump... yes, it is happening in CD8. I'm seeing it in my BPOU also, but we have a plan going into the convention to alter their intentions.
