Cashless Monetary System

This is more out of concern but here it goes. With the popularity of online banking, debit cards, credit cards, etc: more and more transactions are completely cashless. My fear is that if the economy goes cashless, the Fed won't even have to waste ink to print the money. They will just add cash by a computer system. Is this possible, or am I off the deep end?
 
That's basically what they already do.... "printing" money is just an easy way of saying they add to the money supply, whether in cash or otherwise.

Yes, the next level of currency is already functioning. So long as it works in parallel with physical bullion then the future of freedom is very bright.
