The system is not rigged to such a degree. Yes the media does not fairly report the news. Yes they have a definite preference. However, they do not control public opinion because they try very hard. They control public opinion because the vast majority of people are shallow and uninterested. The problem is that candidates like Ron and Rand require people to think, that requires effort. Most people don't want to think so they will listen to what Trump has to say, nothing, therefore they do not have to think. Their brain receives the required stimuli; loud cheering and "Make America Great again", to make them fulfilled.

Carson is a weird freaking dude. First he says he's going to Florida to pick up underwear, which he decides to tell people right before the Iowa caucus, and then complains when other campaigns take that to mean that he's out...then he decides to skip a debate but claims he's not dropping out, only to then officially drop out days later. Now this? He seems like the victim of bad brain surgery himself.

You are echoing a sentiment that I posted some time ago in a different thread. I had jokingly suggested that he had practiced on himself in med school. No matter what the exact circumstances surrounding an offer and/or endorsement, this can't be spun into anything positive for Carson. I have no idea what he was thinking with this revelation, but it confirms my suspicions that he has definite "issues".
