Candidate comparison fact sheet of Ron Paul/Obama/ Romney for CA ME and other states

As many of the target market as we can quickly, I'm thinking college parking lots myself.

that's where I put primary flyers.

What about using a registered voter list for your precinct? That way you can ensure that the people receiving the information are, at the very least, registered to vote. From the CA Secy of State info, it looks like around 30% of CA adults are not registered to vote. I believe the deadline has already passed for new registrations.

But they are registered to vote for someone else, often, much more chaff to wheat imho. Colleges are concentrated, and Ron is catnip. Those who already want to vote for him and were registered during Ron's rallies here at these colleges just need to know he is a certified write in. At this point I think that is the low hanging fruit and I don't think we are going to be able to get more than that in the time left.

The classic techniques work best for anyone, given enough coverage, but Ron has a draw that goes beyond the classic candidates. I'm primarily trying to inform the enthusiasts at this point, even if they can't vote they can spread the word to other enthusiasts who can -- and being enthusiasts, they will.

Well that's a good thought. Nonetheless, you have 6 days before the election which should give you plenty of time to do the colleges and the precinct. Of course, that all depends on how much time you are able to commit to this effort.

I know you have a plan for me, but I'm working on my own, thanks.

I was a businessman my whole life and an elected official for 20+ years off and on. I have run local and statewide campaigns. I know what works, and how activists can work most effectively. Just trying to lend a hand, so your efforts are not in vain.

I think I'm aiming for a different audience and suspect you are used to a different kind of candidate, but in any event I see things a little differently for the time we have left. I know you see yourself as an expert, but I am more looking for fellow Ron Paul supporters who are spreading the info themselves. Others might be interested in what you have to offer.

Well I suppose it all depends on what your goal is. If it is solely to give people the knowledge that he is able to be written in so they can "feel good" about their vote, then your method appears to be a means to do that. And you'll likely get a couple of thousand people doing it.

However, if your goal is to further the liberty movement by bringing attention to the candidate, then you will need to have a sizable percentage of people writing in Paul so that it will garner some media coverage. In order to get noticed, for lack of a better term, you will likely need about 3% of the vote so that the Paul write in surpasses the total of all the various minor party candidates on the ballot. That would be the most realistic goal to shoot for.

You've obviously spent a lot of time on this project, so I would assume that you would want to see some measurable results from the time and effort that you put into this. Of course my assumption could be wrong.

i disagree with you.

My goal is to maximize Ron's votes and to maximize the ability of Ron's supporters to vote for him. I am sending comparison sheets to inform people about Ron and his issues as an educational matter, but the media wouldn't cover that in any event. The RLCs definition of the liberty movement including more pedestrian candidates who can't use a more 'brushfire' method, or just not Ron's specific network, to pass information does not concern me 6 days from the election. Unlike where I believe you are coming from, I am not primarily here to build a network for your candidates, but to maximize Ron's vote. I think it unlikely unless this really catches on, brushfire-style, to make anything like 3% because it starts so late, but I see no value in bogging down in low return activities such as is my opinion of what you are recommending, born of experience with different precincts and a very different kind of candidate. I've walked my precinct, and I think this is the better way to go for Ron Paul.

So since you aren't looking to build a network for future candidates, once this election is done what are you planning on doing with the information, contacts and experience you have gained from this campaign? Are you planning on running for elected office yourself? The 2013 election season starts on Nov 7, so where do you go from here?

I'll think about that after November 6.

Well I hope you do, it would be a shame for all of the time you have spent on this over the past 2 years or so to be wasted. This is a very long process, and we will not be able to change things by sitting on the sidelines. The more people that are actively involved in the process (and by that I mean physically active and present in the real world) the more we can expect to see change.

One of the reasons the libertarian and conservative wing of the party has suffered over the past decade or two is because far too many people sat on the sidelines and did nothing. There are a lot of us out there working our butts off, but the more people we can get on board, especially someone like yourself with a network of contacts, the better.

I'm sure this all won't go to waste. People are making contacts and friends and spreading word about Ron Paul's message.

Knowlege is spreading and small projects on this forum are useful even at the local level. For instance, I have been circulating within my county committee, of which I am a member, the S.202 "Audit the Fed" flyer. I'm hoping that will bring more to bear on the senate. I hope that others out there are doing the same.

I see the effort that Sailingaway and others are doing in CA as bringing more light to the message. If only X more people are now awake, that's X more. How much effort should be put in for X (10, 20, 30, 10000000) people to be brought into the ideas of real liberty? All we can afford to give.
