This would never happen to Ron Paul

CHARLESTON, S.C.—Newt Gingrich has cancelled a campaign appearance in South Carolina because of poor attendance.

The Republican presidential candidate was scheduled to speak to the Southern Republican Leadership on Friday. But a campaign spokesman told reporters that he would no longer be appearing due to poor attendance.

Poor attendance and also, I think he fears someone will bring up that illegal arms deal with Saddam he was involved with and that he was under investigation for by the FBI, and that isn't supposed to come out until after SC votes.

"Gingrich's spokesman said skipping the stop would give the former House speaker more time at his next scheduled event, a tour of a children's hospital."

lol. No need to draw a crowd at the children's hospital. Definitely a captive audience.

But this doesn't mean he's being premature in offering Sarah Palin a cabinet position in his administration. In fact, it's a good sign. After all, it's much easier to do as Fox tells you and vote for the ugly scumbag if you don't look at him or listen to him first.

Yes, that's true, but do the children vote?

He's getting the numbers in SC because he's from around the area. He was irrelevant in Iowa after having something like 37% at one point, and was irrelevant in NH. He's not on the ballot in how many states?

People who are backing him now are just media sheeple. The others have jumped ship long ago. The real campaign strategist know that the race is a 2-way between Paul/Romney and has been ever since Iowa.

Look at Santorum's debate last night. He seemed to just be going through the motions, IMO. He knows he's done. Newt won't make it to super Tuesday. The skeletons are starting to come alive knowing they can get paid to do some interviews.

Gingrich is irrelevant. Santorum too full of himself to see that he too is irrelevant:

I tried to post a topic about a rumor heading in this direction. Rumor has it, if Gingrich does not do good in S.C. and Fla. he will suspend his campaign and endorse Ron Paul. Had we been able to pursue my earlier thread, we would have known about the above story BEFORE it became news. Should Romney be held below 40 percent of the votes in S.C. and Fla and IF Gingrich drops out, Ron Paul could very well be the next President of the United States.

I really didn't think Santorum did that well at the debate. All he did was attack, said very little about his policies. Chances are good that many undecideds saw him and walked away thinking "Damn, that is one angry dude". I think the imagined attack on him by Paul won't work out for him too much. Ron Paul owned him in that exchange, Santorum's face told the story on that one.

Newt has already said that he would have a very hard time voting for Paul in a Paul/Obama election. The chances of him endorsing Paul are as good as Ron Paul becoming the Fed chairman. Santorum could possibly endorse Ron Paul, that wouldn't be as far-fetched. With the execption of the imagined Abortion attack, he really went out of his way to avoid Ron Paul, either that's because he sees him as the lesser of 3 evils or just irrelevant is the question.

Ron spoke at this conference this morning - how was the attendance???!??!?!?

In a thread about a hit piece trying to claim that Ron Paul is losing supporters, the article said he talked to 50-60 people. In the comment section someone said that the attendees paid $100/person to be there.

On drudge now.

I am glad for this!

There was not a huge crowd at that GOP thing earlier today, if that is what was on CSPan. The fact that it was so early in the morning and they were charging $100 to attend explains why the crowd was not large.

Unlike yesterday with that SMASHINGLY HUGE CROWD ad ... College of Charleston, I think it was? Ron even took questions and signed autographs after his talk.

According to my friends, there wasn't more than 100 tops and they were mostly Newt supporters. The said Dr. Paul delivered a pretty good speech and pretty much all of the people that were there to see Newt hung around and watched Dr. Paul instead.
