So we're celebrating free trade now?

You lolbertarian you.
I'm proving tariffs work, whether you want free trade or protectionism.

I want more tariffs on them anyway, and I'm sure that's coming, but this is an improvement by itself, and it shows that those opposed to Trump's tariffs just want to destroy America for profit, they don't really want free trade.

So you like tariffs because they're useful for killing tariffs, except...

So no tariffs at all is an improvement, and you say that was the intent all this time you've been promoting them, but what you really want is for the U.S. to charge all tariffs.

Back pedaling is gay too. It also shows that you're not principled and will fall for anything. Not only is it on your nose, you seem to step in it a lot.

That's common. They see it, but assume they can't step in it because they can't tell it from what their noses are wearing.

Too bad I'm not back pedaling.

I'm just proving you are dead wrong from any point of view.

Let me explain it carefully so even you can understand.

Foreign tariffs on our goods are bad for us, our tariffs on foreign goods are good for us.
Anything that either reduces foreign tariffs on us or increases our tariffs or does both is an improvement.

See how simple it is?

Other countries are certainly free to follow the same policy for themselves that I advocate for us, depending on their resources it may be as good for them as it is for us, and I prefer for them to be protectionist because it undermines the globalist push for free trade, but I prefer even more for our country to rebuild its industry and if they lower tariffs while we raise ours that is a big help reindustrializing.

More than possible. They haven't released a single detail about the agreement yet.
  • For Canada and Mexico, the existing fentanyl/migration IEEPA orders remain in effect, and are unaffected by this order. This means USMCA compliant goods will continue to see a 0% tariff, non-USMCA compliant goods will see a 25% tariff, and non-USMCA compliant energy and potash will see a 10% tariff. In the event the existing fentanyl/migration IEEPA orders are terminated, USMCA compliant goods would continue to receive preferential treatment, while non-USMCA compliant goods would be subject to a 12% reciprocal tariff.

The OP quote was from 8:35 am (03APR). But what I'm seeing, as of 12:31 pm (03APR), is that Canada is retaliating:

Canada to retaliate against Trump with tariffs on US autos

Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada will impose “carefully calibrated and targeted counter tariffs” on the United States while pursuing new trade ties with like-minded allies.

Carney said Canada will respond to President Donald Trump’s tariffs with 25 percent counter measures on vehicles imported from the United States that do not comply with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, as well as on the non-Canadian content of USMCA-compliant vehicles.

Negotiations are ongoing, they are moving in Trump's direction, so he's not hitting them harder yet.

But he will if they don't agree to his demands and lower their tariffs etc.

Then Canada will have too much production capacity, Detroit won't be able to meet demand, and Hyundai and Kia will be very happy.
I hate to break it to you, but I don't care if companies that offshored jobs are hurt.
Meanwhile many companies are reshoring jobs for Americans and that's a very good thing.
