I am a Libertarian. Badnarick, Barr, and Johnson are my results for '04,'08 and '12, respectively. I don't believe anything Republicans say. Their words have never rung so hollow to me after W's Presidency. The only reason why I ever supported Ron Paul was because Libertarian party have spoken of him so fondly.

So, come 2016, why should I join grassroots for Rand?
Why should I believe anything he says? Because he's Ron Paul's son? That isn't enough for me.

Your only hope to get 95% of what you want is with Rand. He has the ability to sell his message to the mainstream Republican party without actually compromising much of anything. Keep in mind the Senate is a very deliberative chamber so you are naturally going to have to play some games. He has played them very well so far. If we throw Rand under the bus we will never get our guy.

If his voting record isn't good enough for you, why the hell did you vote for Barr? If Barr had a better voting record than Rand Paul, I'll eat sand and shit you a Chianti bottle.

If you're supporting a politician for some reason other than the way he votes, you're missing the whole point. That letter next to his name means less than nothing to your freedom or your children's futures.

Think of Ron and Rand this way.

Ron attacks from the outside.. hence he bashes his head against the truth and the GOP.

Rand attacks from the inside... its slower but times like now it has its advantages.. He comes off as a true supporter of the party while infecting his strict constitutionalism into the party.

Seriously, you voted for Bob "the drug war" Barr, but you're questioning whether Rand is worthy of your vote?

I think you're trolling. Or a silly little man. I can even go both ways, even.

Election nights are fun...

If you were willing to vote for Bob Barr then you should definitely have no problem supporting Rand Paul.

Rand is awesome. He has gone essentially rogue in the Senate and does things no other Senator would dream of. He is just as likely to piss off John McCain as Barbara Boxer. Many times he acts alone to object to bills set to pass under suspension, so that there is debate and roll calls. He filibusters, tacks on crazy amendments to stall statist legislation and induce debate, excoriates statist agency people in Senate hearings, rails against foreign aid, the patriot act, the TSA, overreach by the EPA, aggression without a congressional declaration of war, writes anti-state books, proposes budgets that balance in 3 years, votes against debt ceiling increases, warrantless searches and wiretaps, quotes novels and famous philosophers, makes frequent references to specific sections of the constitution, has said ALL regulations should sunset regularly and then have to be justified in order to be reinstated, has said on national T.V. that he feels he should return his salary to the taxpayers since the Senate does so little work and with no debate, he introduces bills for no reason other than to underscore hypocrisy, and last but not least, he claims to eat lots of sushi. He is just one guy and can't do it all alone. But looking at him work, you almost wouldn't know it. He has evolved into a top notch speaker, thinks well on his feet, and can dumb down the message for the lower information voter when necessary.

Take a look at how he has voted on several bills http://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/117285/rand-paul#.UJqe98XA-s8

He has fought subsidies, violations of civil liberties, welfare etc.
I believe he also tried or did introduce a bill to abolish the TSA, he is basically the only senate Republican who wants to cut military spending.
He is against the drug war, against the patriot act. He is by far the most libertarian senator in ages.

I disagree with him on social issues like abortion and his decision to endrose mitt (but he had to do it if he actually wants a shot to win, so i understood it) but his voting record speaks for itself.

No... I can't sell you on Rand. And Bob Barr endorsed freakin Newt! GJ will barely break 1%. I'm going back to my bunker!

I'll just use Rand's own words:

"Our Founders envisioned an America in which citizens would bully the government, not the other way around. This book is my effort to bring that America back."
--Rand Paul
