Ryan Harring Writes' "Ron Pauls HR 3785 was kicked to subcommittee this past week. I think we should keep an eye on this one and urge TN leadership to co sponsor!

AAron C. Hall responds , "Even assuming one agrees with every one of Ron Paul's stances, this will be an example of why he would be an ineffective president. How often are his posistions opposed by every other member of Congress. and how many of his proposals are even considered, much less passed? Why do you believe he would be more effective at getting his proposals passed into law if he held the presidency"?

Because congressmen and women would be expected to honour the will of the people, as expressed through their vote for Ron Paul as President.

1. If he is elected, they will have to pay more attention.

2. Every other member of Congress is not opposed to his bill. There are those who voted against NDAA the first time around; and there are more who would vote against this alone, when it's not part of the Defense appropriations bill.

3. It isn't just supposed to be Ron Paul telling them what to do. He will do what he can, within the (constitutional) powers of the President. But we are supposed to have a government "of the people, by the people, for the people". The people are supposed to call/write Congress and tell them how to vote. If Ron Paul is President, he will educate the people, and they will help put the pressure on Congress.

4. This bill is a clear line in the sand. It is one item, not a lot of things put together. Whoever votes for it is voting to get rid of the detention clause in NDAA. Whoever votes against it is voting for detention of American citizens without trial, and is responsible for that vote. They should be thrown out of office for violating their oath.

There are things that can be done to get Congress more in line. It just isn't going to happen when you have a president who wants to be a dictator, and wants the federal government to have more unconstitutional powers.

If Ron Paul becomes President, that means enough people will have been woken up, and they will support what we need to do to change direction.
