It seems like a no brainer I have no idea how this isnt being used! What better way to get apathetic voters to come out and vote on this single issue.

RP is the only candidate opposing this!!! Piggyback on the movement and take advantage of the fact that SC is an OPEN Primary and comes 3 days after the Blackout!!

Get on this start promoting it on FB, contact the campaign, could easily get some extra votes!

I wholeheartedly agree. They need a press release, interviews scheduled about this, Twitter/Facebook posts, a video from the campaign we can make viral, etc.

Absolutely! You should start this same thread in the Campaign Suggestion forum: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/forumdisplay.php?317-Campaign-Suggestion-Box

For some reason, the one thing the campaign doesn't seem to be good at is trying to get votes any way they can (without sacrificing principles!).

Might be too political stunt-ey, but maybe Paul should introduce a "Free and Open Internet Amendment" to the Constitution. It would basically restrict the federal government from making any laws that would seek to regulate the internet.

The path to amending the Constitution is a trickier one than typical legislation (as I'm sure many here are aware), but at least Paul's position would be clear, and would have something tangible for the anti-SOPA/PIPA people to rally behind, or at least talk about.

That's the problem--they won't pull any political stunts! There's nothing wrong with a little bit of what I like to call "Principled Pandering"! ;)

I agree. This is not pandering, my friend. This is giving voters the real-time opportunity to nominate the incorruptible one who aligns with their interest in protecting the freedom of what is perhaps the world's greatest asset: the internet.

THIS! Whoever agrees, please send Collins and Doug Wead a message underscoring how important it is to make it crystal clear that Ron Paul believes SOPA & PIPA to be a total DISASTER.

Taking the lead on this issue would not only cause left-leaning, 2008-obama-supporting SC voters to turn out in droves for Paul on Saturday, but also help make the next money bomb possibly 2x larger.

What's the best way to contact Collins and Wead?

Collins was said in jest

Doug Wead, however, is definitely worth tracking down - he has a facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DougWeadOfficial) and a blog (http://dougwead.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/exclusive-interview-with-ron-paul-we-can-win/). As you can see, he almost always personally responds to insightful, interesting comments. And best of all, if the idea = good, it generally gets pushed to the top of the campaign's "to-do" list.

I support this thread.

I know that RP has explicitly opposed SOPA. Does anyone have a source showing that he also specifically opposes PIPA (of course we all know he opposes it, but hopefully where he identifies it by name)? If so, Paul should be identified as one of the legislators publicly opposing the bill on PIPA's Wikipedia page. Due to Wikipedia's blackout, that page will get lots of views today.

Congress is already restricted per the 1st Amendment.

It doesn't matter.. They don't pay attention to it.

Maybe they can pass a simple law - that lawmakers who violate the 1st amendment be sentenced to death.

Maybe that will work?

Exactly! Mention it at the debates, even if he is not asked the question!

I disagree it would be a stunt if RP never had publicly criticized SOPA and came out against it just to get some votes. But he has been against this from the start.

To win, Paul needs to go after those that vote, hence seniors. Wake up and I'll continue to say it, stop this "we need the young and progressives" to win the Republican nomination.

Too many in here just don't get it. There isn't enough youth votes to overcome the old votes even if Paul won 100% of the youth vote. He needs to be competitive in the old demographic and his youth vote will put in over the top.

It has nothing to do with "getting it". We all know its about those who vote. But this is an easy way to pick up some extra votes. Did I insinuate that we win if we pick up these votes? no, and I dont think anyone here is saying that. Having said that, why waste such a great opportunity to pick up some extra votes and expose the other candidates as big government hacks??
