Calling all Ron Paul delegates to State Convention

Are you planning to attend?

It's kind of been a tradition at State Convention for candidates to sponsor a hospitality suite in the "main" hotel where the majority of delegates and guests are staying. After the "official" dinners are over, most delegates congregate with other delegates from the state in these hospitality suites. These events can sometimes led to productive statewide contacts.

I was wondering who in the state would be interested in helping sponsor one of these for Ron Paul, or the "Ron Paul Movement"?

If you are interested, or just a delegate to convention, either respond here, or e-mail me (Ken Nelson) at [email protected].

I'm going to get an idea on cost.

I'd also like to get a count of delegates to convention to get an idea on whether or not some platform changes will carry, or possible resolutions are worth floating.

Thanks

NC State Convention is in June i believe. People are still having their County Conventions all the up through the end of March.

ps im a delegate, but wont be able to help sponsor anything but my gas money there hehe.

That's a great idea Ken. Keep posting in this thread about the specifics, location and what it will cost, also the time frame for the reservation. I'll throw a hundred duckets to this cause and see if we can get some chip ins from the local (Hickory) meet-up.

Can motions be filed at the District conventions? I would think it would light more fire at state, if several districts have already passed the same resolution.

A tempting one in my mind, is to request that our state delegation endorse that US House Bill - to require all legislation specify what clause of the Constitution makes it valid.

A motion to pass no more unbalanced budgets, would be a good one too.

Right now I don't think we stand much of a chance at getting national delegates... It'll be a different story in Montana or Nevada. But a Paulite bloc of 10% or more might be the deciding factor on other votes.

As of tonight I am a GOP delegate for Ron Paul.....next stop district convention April 12th...then we will see about the state convention in Greensboro! I will follow this thread so keep us on the same page!!!

Yes, most of us have yet to make it to the District Convention. Ours (Dist 5) is Apr 19.

I have not had my district convention yet either. However I will be at the State Convention regardless. If not as a delegate then I will be more than happy to be an informative participant in the Ron Paul Suite.
I think this will be a tremendous exercise in showing that there is truly a conservative contestant still in the race. Especially in letting others know what our agenda is to bring the party back to true constitutional principles. Even though Mc Cain is the "big-dog" in this contest most Republicans I've met aren't at all serious about him. Most have accepted him for the belief of party unity.
I ask: What is it to win or lose the presidential race if we lose our conservative principles in doing so?
No, sir! McCain is not a conservative. He may be a Republican(TM), but he surely is not a conservative.
This may all come down to the new definition of the Republican Party. Should "unity" lead us in the new definition or should we re-ignite the party to what our core beliefs are.
I believe that the new injection of Republicans who have adopted Ron Pauls' platform can spark this flame. The Republican Party is a drying tender box.

New Hanover County had its county convention yesterday. Somewhere around 50% of the delegates are Ron Paul supporters. Next is district, then SEE YOU AT STATE!

Great to hear, POA!

Anyone been through the NC district convention process before? Im a nervous type and not sure what to expect. Are the delegates voting for the delegates that will move on to state? Do we have to declare a candidate at district? Anyone that can shed any light would be appreciated. Or........I'll freestyle it.:D

I suggest you go convert to your county convention. It is working. Check out the other threads. Keep up the fight!

Yes, the county was fairly painless. We have roughly 14 of the 33 as Ron Paul supporters. I believe there will be voting involved at the district convention.

Don't worry about it. You sign up as a delegate, then during the convention they take a voice vote: "Everyone in favor of electing this list of delegates say "AYE"" Everybody gets elected. You just have to sign a couple papers, one for your district and one for the state convention. At least this is how it went in Guilford County.

The delegate selection process is nothing to worry about. What you should be prepared for is the resolutions and amendments to them. If your local Ron Paul group plans on trying to get resolutions passed/amended, you should familiarize yourself with Robert's Rules of Order and LOUDLY respond "AYE" or "NAY" as the case may be -- these will be voice votes and you need to make yourself heard.

Also, bring cash. There was a $10 registration fee I didn't know about, but luckily I had some with me.
