Call Tenn Paper Night Editor NOW - Demand CORRECTION!

Yes, door to door canvassing with the Newspaper in hand. Too bad, if you had known earlier, you could have hit all of the churches today as well. Still, there is time tomorrow if all of the Meetups organize quickly.

People in this country make me sick. Really sick. These are Americans? Sounds like Nazi Germany to me, where everyone turned in his brother or did nothing and watched the slaughter or pretended it didn't exist. I am ashamed of my fellow countrymen - except for Ron Paul supporters that is. We must fight on for each other and our families and our country and for Ron Paul, as he does for us!

This is sickening. I am going to call first thing in the morning. Thanks for letting us know Matt.

Our newspaper in Sevier County (East TN) did a good commentary editorial on Dr. Paul since we paid for a 1/2 page ad in the paper. The commentary spoke of our Meetup Group leader who is a West Point graduate and has 2 daughters currently at West Point and another serving in Afghanistan. Overall, the article was very positive. I was impressed. I am sure the article never would have been included had we not placed an ad in the paper, but I was happy.

called, left message to please let me know why he was excluded in this article.

bump a de bump

Now I'm a little sorry I was so nice:rolleyes: Thank you for the post.

i just got back from a super bowl party with an anecdotal story that made me think of this thread.

my mother in law asks: "did ron paul drop out?"
"of course not", i say
"oh, well when i was in utah this week (traveling) i was looking in the paper each day at the political coverage and all the candidates were there except ron paul. so i thought he had dropped out".

:(

Ha! Yep, I just found an email in my inbox from my husband's grandparents (Knoxville), who became confused in the exact same way after reading the Tennessean's "Election Guide" (using the term loosely).

Does anybody even read that rag? They did it on purpose, it was no mistake. Don't expect a correction.

This would appear to be correct. When I called the Tennessean, I was told by Jerry Manly that "the people who made that choice are not in tonight. I can give you a different number to call."

"He's the one I trust a little bit more than most." A little bit more? What a dumb statement.

Wow, those were all dumb quotes, IMO.

Say.. anybody there in Tennessee want to drop off the appropriate SlimJim at these houses between now and Tuesday? These are the voters quoted in the paper... (see page 1 of this thread)

I'm not suggesting anyone get into any confrontations of any kind with the above voters.. but it sounds like they could use a little RP outreach, especially considering that crappy newspaper they read!

I'm thinking Mr. Manly is hating his job tonight.

Speak with a lawyer tomorrow.
I've thought about it. It wouldn't accomplish much IMO.

First off, what grounds can we sue them on? It's a private paper, they can print and say what they want as long as they are not libelous. I dont think a case could be made that this specific omission was libelous (although I could be wrong).

Secondly, it wouldn't do us ANY good by SuperTuesday. The only thing it might do would be to punish the Tennessean (assuming the suit is successful) however the outcome of that would be years after the election.

They are asshats

But if you can think of anything else we can do besides get on talk radio tomorrow, call everyone we know, and scream at the top of our lungs, please let me know. I am open to any productive ideas!

I am going to go ahead and say this... I think this newspaper just killed any chance of Ron Paul doing well in Tennessee. In my honest opinion I don't think we'll even take 3rd place at this point :(

You do it to scare them. No one wants to be contacted by a lawyer.

I also recommend contacting Joseph Becker, the Chief Legal Counsel of the campaign.

I just talked to Mr. Manly and he was courteous, but he said it is not running tomorrow because he will not be in Tennessee. I did however leave a message for Mr. Underwood

Yah this is the sad truth that we must face. I must say again to all here that we must unite by not buying, supporting or watching any mainstream media. They have too much power and it's time to exercise our free market power more than ever.

It happened in 1913. Theodore Roosevelt run third party in 1912 to split the Republican vote and let Wilson win. The bankers financed Teddy's run. The bankers had a bunch of dirt on Wilson and blackmailed him into signing the Federal Reserve act when Congress was on recess for Christmas vacation.
It started then and we are reaping the consequences now.

That was then. This is now. THEY are about to reap what they've sown.

Why not contact the CEO of the paper's parent company as well?? Ask him, nicely, to ensure that The Tennessean will run a correction (looks like it would have to be in the Tues edition, if it can be accomplished). If he's cooperative at all, I'd suggest asking him to confirm via email that he will assist with getting the correction done by the Tennessean.

Im not sure my ideas are very scrupulous but...

You could pay to buy a paper from a vending machine and insert your own Ron Paul info into each.

Where I live, newspapers give away free papers to poor/homeless people to sell on street corners..you and your meetup could get ahold of some of those and insert reason into them..

You could insert Ron Paul info into coffeehouse copies of the paper, library copies, not found yet driveway papers etc.

You could print out a copy of a similar comparision of all the candidates from ( i think) knowbeforeyouvote.com and pass them out at traffic lights, grocery stores, malls, and at voting venues, etc.

I haven't called yet, but I did donate to ronpaulnewspaper=)

Wow, LOL

I think stuffing all the accessible copies of the Tennessean with a "special insert" is an amazing idea!

I've done it. Also try the free advertisers you see in the other racks. As a precautionary tactic, don't use official campaign materials, use flyers etc. with a disclaimer at the bottom saying it is not affiliated with any campaign.

Matt...I never thought you were nuts before, but, if a newspaper reports the candidates for president and misses one, well, I think that could be a definite error in submission if not corrected immediately..but if MANY papers do it, ALL over the country, then it looks more like a PLOT. I am calling the FCC again on Monday. This is action that is REALLY hurting the campaign and would not be hard to prove. Half the people in the damned country don't even KNOW RP is running and the other 35% think he dropped out! I bet a good lawyer could get enough money from a lawsuit that would fund RP candidates for years..
