Why would the Bush administration ask the courts and Congress to stay out of investigating those destroyed CIA tapes?
I think the hypocrisy of the administration is more important than the "why". Mr. Bush's administration has used the "if you have nothing to hide" line to justify his warrantless wiretapping program. It's time for the Bush administration to practice what he preaches. If he has nothing to hide, then he won't mind if the judicial has a look around.
I thought the government's sole purpose was to protect the rights and privacy of the citizens, not the secrecy of the government.
