Cafe shows Portland officer the door, won't sell him coffee again [Rand Related]

Go vegans!

"We have a unique relationship with the community," he said. "You're there to protect them but on the other hand they don't know what that involves. Being gracious is part of it."

lolz..

After reading that article, if I lived in Portland I'd frequent this place.

Those are some of the dumbest comments I've ever read.

"Liberals don't like police"

Jesus $%^&$# Christ I wish that were true. If Obama did one thing to step back the police state I'd relect him. And that's not a typo, I'd personally see to it he was re-elected.

Fucking police are taking over.

LOL

Didn't the coffee shop owner just break the Civil Rights Law?

Where are all those civil rights activists? :D

let's hope the cafe don't get robbed as I am sure no police will help them. Heh

If anybody robbed it, it would most likely be police.

truth.

All police are beholden to federal funding at this point, in the absence of that not being sustainable they will look to be revenue generators, always looking for any excuse.

I live in Portland. It's the most commie city in the U.S., I'm pretty sure. All those vegans and hipsters walk around with Obama t-shirts, and every god damn Prius has an Obama sticker on it. You probably wouldn't like the cafe. They probably have a barista girl wearing a tank top with nasty giant balls of pit hair.

ROFL. I lived in a college/progressive/liberal town in Colorado. I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure the stench of patchouli oil is great in that place.

It's just good business sense. 99% of their clientele is probably potheads, do you think they want to lose all their other customers because a cop wants a cup of coffee?

I don't even smoke it, but I generally feel uncomfortable when cops are around. It's unfortunate that they've been largely tasked with extorting fines out of people who are doing their best to follow the law, but that's the way it is. When a cop pulls up behind me at an intersection, it's never a pleasant experience.

Felt like I had to step in when the conversation revolved to being vegan = loving Obama. I'm sure there is a correlation some of the time. However, many of the vegans I know are some of the people most against the government that you'll find other than at a Libertarian convention. Just look at the government's (and Obama's) continual subsidizing of meat and dairy production and lack of rule of law when it comes to these companies and you'll see why.

Vegans and vegetarians are more likely to be libertarian than the general population. If you're more likely to think about an issue and see injustice in it and are willing to stand up to the crowd to say it's not right, you're willing to do that in other areas. It just makes sense.
