Hello everyone!

Yes, vote accountability and tracking in California is not possible. The system is designed to prevent it. I will explain in a moment, but let me give you the complete story, as there is other relevant information as well.

I went to the polling place around 3:00pm. I didn't see a single sign for anyone, Ron Paul or otherwise. Like others have posted, no ID was requested, I simply gave my name, take them my address and signed. The woman then asked me if I wanted a a paper or electronic ballet.

That stopped me.

I pointed out that California had decertified the electronic voting machines, and she said that yes, they had been decertified, but that two counties in California (Orange County and some other county in Northern California that I had never heard of) had authorized the use of machines. She and another vounteer insisted that they "were ok." That they were "bulletproof." I shrugged and asked for a paper ballot. The entire time I was there (about half an hour) I never saw a single person other than me go to the paper voting booths. Every single other person used the machines.

Ron Paul was fourth on the list. ABOVE both McCain and Romney. :) The Ghoul was first.

I filled in my vote for Ron Paul, voted no on all the state propositions, and turned in my ballot. I watched as it was put into a cardboard box that was "sealed" by what looked like a loose piece of white tape. I then asked the polling people what I would need to do to confirm at a later date that my vote had been counted, and that it had been counted correctly.

And this is where it gets interesting.

At first, one of the volunteers said "Oh. Sure. Uhh...give me a moment." Obviously I was the first person of the day to ask for this. (Remember it was 3:00pm.) He wandered off for a few minutes and then came back with a vote receipt that had a contact phone number on the back. And, after handing it to me, one of the other volunteers pointed out that they wouldn't be able to help me.

Why?

Because there is NO connection whatsoever, no paper trail at all, between the ballot and the voter. The ballot has no name, no address, no identification number of any kind whatsoever. And this started a twenty minute conversation amongst myself and three of the volunteers. I pointed out that with no connection to me there was absolutely no way to confirm that my vote had been counted at all. Let alone accurately. Even if they really wanted to, they simply couldn't do it. No accountability whatsoever. I explained that if one of them wanted to stay late, open the boxes and filter out the votes they didn't like, no one would know about it, and there was absolutely nothing I could do to confirm my vote. In fact, they could even throw away half the boxes with ballots and no one would have any way of finding out. What was the response: "Uhh...wow, yeah. I guess so. Huh."

Since they obviously understood, I didn't make a scene over it. But I did stay to chat, and they explained a little bit about the process. Apparently, after 8:00pm, they were to drive the ballot boxes to "a place" and from that point, they had no idea what happened to them. By this time, they almost seemed concerned about the process, and one of the guys commented that "Once they get there, who knows what happens to them? Who knows who counts them?"

Apparently, not the volunteers working the voting booths.

So there you have it, people. There is no way to confirm votes in california. Voting machines are irrelevant. You don't need to go high tech to commit vote fraud. All you have to do is get access to the ballots, and there is absolutely no way for anyone to know what you do with them. A "recount" would be meaningless. Even two or three Joe Nobody's could commit vote fraud simply by volunteering to work the booths. After 8:00, they throw out the ballots they don't like.

Welcome to the US.

So, after voting I went to get pizza at a place with a big television. (I don't own a television.) And there I watched for an hour while CNN reported on the distribution of votes based on race and gender. I watched as they went into great detail about how in Georgia, with a whole one percent of the vote in, it was clear that 77% was voting for Obama, and that white males were voting for him in large numebrs. They went on at great length about how the younger crowd was more likely to vote for him, and the closer voters were to the "over 60" bracket, the more likely the were to vote for Hillary.

Maybe they can know these things in Georgia. They certainly can't know them here in California.

WTF aren't the intelligent people working the polls?

We need a public count. Vote in Private Count in Public.

No ID for me either. And my Paul signs were being stolen all day too. Grr.

The voting machines in Orange County leave a paper trail. It's called a "Voter Verifiable Audit Trail." Basically you vote on the machine, it prints out the results on a roll of paper you can see through a plastic window, it asks you to verify your vote, and then it's recorded. I'd say it's pretty bulletproof.

Of course, if they're not checking ID, the system has a pretty gaping hole in it.....

I voted in Orange County this morning, and I would say that the voting machines are better than paper ballots. Like he said, they have a little printer that prints out a little paper ballot when you are done. It has your code on it (they give you a receipt) so theoretically someone should be able to track your ballot with your number.

I actually thought that the system was kind of good, but I'm not one of those people who are paranoid against machines. Like others have said, fraud can be committed just about any way if the perpetrators are set on it.

Don't worry, OC won't get a good percentage of Ron Paul votes anyway. There are way too many NeoCon blowhards.

And No, of course no one checked my ID! Then all of the illegal aliens wouldn't be able to vote!

First of all, I think those results based on demographics are from exit polls, not the actual votes. And I don't know if you had this, but my ballot had a tear-off stub at the top for the voter to keep. Maybe that can be used later.

No ID for me either, and they had my registration wrong. I registered as Republican (from Libertarian) before the cuttoff date.

Now get this... There's been an incorrectly spelled entry with my name going on for years.

"Germy" instead of "Jeremy" which I believe has been around since 2000 or maybe earlier. Years ago I reregistered to correct this. After that, I'd go to the polls and notice that it said "Germy" and "Jeremy" So I requested that they take "Germy" off..... they crossed it out. I thought that was the end of that.

Last month, I reregistered - as republican. I get a card a few days ago that says "Germy" on it - and it has my old apartment number on it! It says, "see reverse side for party affiliation" On the reverse side, there's nothing.

Today, I went to the polls.... they had my old address... my name was spelled "germy" and they had me registered as Libertarian still...

So I had to fillout a provisional ballot... Whats wrong with these people?

No ID here either. I was tempted to cast another vote under a friend's name, but obviously I didn't.

"I didn't see a single sign for anyone, Ron Paul or otherwise."

This is not surprising: I believe there's a law that prohibits electioneering (any kind of candidate promotion) within 100 feet of any polling place. So this is a good thing.

They used electronic machines here (supposedly just for handicapped). I went to 2 poll stations, and others also reported, PRETTY MUCH ALL POLLL STATIONS IN OC HAVE MOSTLY ELECTRONIC MACHINES and like 1 or 2 paper stations.

Workers are DISCOURAGED to give anyone paper ballots. Some workers don't even know that they have paper ballots (or are they lying?)

We went to watch the vote count - HARDLY ANY PAPER BALLOTS.

There were 2 suspicious guys in the room where the memory cards were uploaded. One guy was sitting on the computer (nervous as hell, wont stop glancing at me) and another kept going in and out of the room; the 2 kept exchanging flash drives and I can see the one guy copying/pasting folders, etc. I really have no idea what all that has to do with just uploading and tallying votes. There was a bucket of hundreds of memory cards in the corner that no one could account for - I was later told that it was from the machine for scanned absentee ballots but trust me there were way too many cards sitting there. And a bunch of other things.

I'm not crying fraud but it just DOES NOT look very transparent and accountable AT ALL.

The results from CA make me sick to my stomach. AK as well (where he should have gotten FIRST).

I can't point fingers but I KNOW deep in my heart that the whole voting process here is a SHAM and it breaks my heart.

And no they dont fuckign ask for fucking ID. I was there at 2 polling stations and noone asked for ID.

Also my cousin is not even a US citizen and he accidentally registered to vote when he applied for a drivers license. He got a voter registration card in the mail a few weeks later.

It's a fucking joke. Any drug dealer can hop over the border, register himself and his whole illegal family at the DMV and then on election day go to 8 different polling stations and vote for all 8 of his family members (YES FOR HILLARY OF COURSE).

All this hard FUCKING work putting up signs and going door to door to be cheated like this.

I invite EVERYONE to come watch the goddamn shammed voting and "counting" process from now on. Trust me I will be there at every election from now on. They WILL BE exposed.

no id for me either and i ended up using one of the machines. the machines themselves did seem to be pretty legit however i noticed that the paper receipt you could see had a bar code so I'm assuming they're going to count them by reading the bar code and who knows what the bar code actually said and who knows what the software is that will read the bar code and input it into whatever counting system they use. They gave me a ballot card though and on the back in the instructions for provisional voters it says

Provisional Voters: To determine whether your Provisional Ballot was counted please retain this slip of paper and call 1-888-OCVOTES. You will needd the number listed above.

Above this it has a line to input the envelope # for paper ballots or the Ballot code for eSlate ballots so I would assume that's how you could verify that your paper vote was actually counted.

OK, you guys are annoying me a little with this "no ID checked" bit.
Why should your ID be checked at your polling location!? Don't tell
me you are advocating for the "Real ID" now?

The only issue might be that someone might go to your polling place
and pretend to be you and vote. But once you get there and they look
you up and see that "you" already voted (remember you had to sign
the book next to your name?) then they might want to verify that it
is really you this time, which is when you might be required to provide
some proof (ID, passport, SSN, etc).

OK true (sorry had to edit my response cause I didnt read your entire post before answering) but consider this. If someone comes and sees their name was crossed off, and provides ID to show that they are the actual person, what then? That "imposter's" ballot has already been casted for their candidate right, so isn't it kind of too late? Or is there a way they can track that ballot? I still think it's a bad idea not to check ID. Plus with them saying you can use your sample ballot to vote, I can see a lot of potential for abuse..

I was just thinking you could go to a voting location other than the one assigned to you and ask for a provisional ballot. Then keep going to the same one or others and use different names. I wouldn't say it really needs to be a government issued id, but something with your name on it from a semi reputable place. When I was in there too, i could read the book as they were looking for my name so I could have just gotten other names/addresses from the book each time i went in.

WRONG!!!! Here in Georgia they cannot know these things in an exact moment! It is impossible. All i had to do to vote was show my drivers licence then fill out my name and address on a card and check Republican, then go to the crappy diebolds. Unless they check in "white" or whatever and email it to where ever to be recorded...they have no clue who is voting for who., and i didnt not see any kind of internet hookups. i also knew this info from CNN was a lie. Its impossible for them to know that. Im glad you picked up on that also. It is so planned out, I really feel like my vote for Paul was not real. just because i pressed a few buttons doesnt mean anything.

The last time i voted was for Perot in 96. In Georgia your right to vote goes dead after a few years if you fail to vote in later elections which i didnt do because i didnt want to vote for anyone running, so i was supposed to reregister this time around so i could vote for Paul.
Well a few months ago, i went to reregister only to find out my name was still active..!?

...seems like half of the responses are focusing on the no ID part. It was four words out of a dozen paragraphs, and totally not the pointof this post. The point here is that vote confirmation is not possible. Paper is no more secure than electronic. The system is designed in such a way that massive fraud can very easily be committed, and with absolutely no way to identify it. A recount will not catch votes that have been altered, added, or removed, and there is absolutely no way for anyone to confirm their vote after it has been cast.
