CA next state to teach "Equitable Math" because 2+2=4 is white supremacy

Government schools are child abuse.

No rational, sane parent who loves their children should allow them to step foot inside a government school classroom.

They are poison of the very real kind.

Imagine a student who is already poor at math being "taught" by someone like this jackass.

:(

Then imagine a student who could have been good at math being "taught" by someone like this jackass.

Giving the recipe for a double portion is one thing. It might be proper to add 5 tsp. instead of 4 due to the effect of adding the extra portion of the ingredient (e.g., it might make the doubled recipe taste the same as the single recipe). It might even be proper to add less than a double amount of an ingredient (e.g., if a recipe for two pan-fried steaks calls for them to be cooked in 2 tablespoons of butter, it could be proper to add only one extra tablespoon if you're preparing 4 steaks).

But to call these examples of when 2+2=5 or 2+2=3 is absurd. A recipe is not a mathematical equation.

It appears the younger generation doesn't feel learning is necessary, because they think they can just "Google It"
and have instantaneous access to factoids and videos that get learning out of the way.

If you're over 40, consider yourself among the last humans to have to suffer that thing called -- learning.

All of which is subsumed under and implied by the phrase "adjust[ing] proportions when doubling or halving recipes".

Exactly - which is why mealy-mouthed weasels like "@studentactivism" shouldn't be permitted anywhere near math students (or students of any other subjects, for that matter).

If the Younger generation doesn't feel the need to learn.

They wont be able to survive on their own.

This is a math class this morning at @MIT. This is the state of learning and ‘free speech’ at our top universities. It would not be happening without a failure leadership at MIT.

Imagine being a student who borrowed $250k to attend MIT or a professor who is trying to do research in this environment.

New Jersey drops basic skills requirement for new teachers: 'Caved to ... union demands'

TRENTON, N.J. (CITC) — Aspiring teachers in New Jersey are no longer required to prove they are proficient in reading, writing and math.

Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law Monday the elimination of the state's basic skills test requirement. Passing the exam was previously required for teachers to become certified if they did not score in the top one-third percentile of the SAT, ACT or GRE.

Under the new law, teachers can now skip the exam and instead receive an alternate teaching certificate. After four years of employment at a state-approved school, which includes public and charter schools, the educators will then receive a standard teaching certificate.

The elimination was long cheered by the state's teachers union, which called the basic skills test an "unnecessary barrier."

These are the scholars that will be flying planes and doing open heart surgery and teaching your children.

"... will be ... teaching your children."

Will be? They already are:

What you do now is get your son the hell out of their "schools".

That is what you do now.

But are you going to?

"Alex, I'll take What is a one-sided limit?, for $200..."

One-sided limit

The limit from the right of 1/x as x->0 is +∞. The limit from the left of 1/x as x->0 is -∞. Note that those are the only two limits available, and neither of them is zero. And since the one-sided limits of 1/x at x=0 are not equal, the limit (two-sided) of 1/x at x=0 does not exist. Thus, 1/0 is undefined.

To understand mathematics is to understand logic and reason. Logic and reason are the banes against the dialectical Marxist. Their entire goal is simply to destroy what others have built. You will see them call calm rational stoic approaches as white privilege. They tell people to use or to channel their anger and fear, to use those emotions rather than thought. They use it to stop rational people from expressing rational thoughts. Everyone (especially Marxist) know that no society has survived with weak borders, not to mention no borders, but if you mention the obvious, they call you racist and you shut up.

Math is a logic puzzle of balancing two sets of numbers and unknowns between an equal sign. No. 2 + 2 =/= 5. But through emotional manipulation, 2 + 2 + bullshit equity does = 5 if someone is afraid of losing their job or reputation, but these will be considered the good old days if we don't make a stand now. In the future it will be your life, not just your livelihood at stake.

Not only is infinity not zero, it's the exact opposite of zero. It's just as not zero as is possible to be. In fact, it's farther than that. It's impossibly far from zero. It isn't defined because it isn't possible.

a/b = c means that a = bc. So if a is 1 and b is 0, then 1 = 0c = 0, which apparently was too advanced for the teacher and principal.

Even if that's too advanced, how about taking it to the basic fundamentals. Take a pie. Then try and divide it by zero.
