So I found a place for cheap tricorner hats. The price ranges from $5.98 to $3.50

I kind of like the idea but worry about blowback. I am all for a gimmick/marketing that gets attention but we also need to see how they will spin this. We have already been called weird, fringe, radical, nerdy and ugly by Time and a bunch of others. I'm not a snob but I myself have laughed at geeks who dress up in Renaissance, Civil War or Star Trek costumes any other time than Halloween. Will they spin this that we are dorks? Should we care? Maybe a tricorner hat with a Ron Paul pin would be more effective than the whole regalia. More message and less gimmick.

Have you ever been to the democratic conventions or any political rallies? I have. They have costumes there usually- just not a large amount of people. I seriously doubt this would be seen as odd ball.

I think everyone wearing a tricorner hat (no other period garb) would be a really cool talking point for the MSM, and it gives a visual for the story, which they love.

Weird, maybe. But we ARE trying to get attention here.

And it'll get us in a lot less trouble than if we had all worn Guy Fawkes masks on Nov 5.

What if we found tri-corner hats and bonnets? Then we would be hearkening back to the Boston tea party but in a less militaristic way. Plus...a lot of women, especially Ron Paul's more conservative female supporters might think an excuse to wear a bonnet with a Ron Paul pin is fun. Ron Paul kids could wear bonnets and tri cornered hats. I would wear either personally. I might even wear it to the store and out on walks. When people ask about the hat, perfect opning to hand them a Ron Paul slim jim.

I think most people would wear them with plainclothes, a few might dress up like re-enactors but I think bonnets and kids would soften it but still keep it distinctive.
