Hi, this is me just letting yall know that the Granny Warriors have a deal set up where freedom loving people can get a 99 year transferable lease for one low payment of 500 bucks for a lot on a large chunk of land in WEST TEXAS.

see here for more details: http://www.freedomisnotdead.org/bugout1.htm

I think of it as an insurance policy in case I become homeless, I don't want to live in a FEMA camp.

West Texas. Boy howdy.

Think I'll stay here in the green hills, thanks. I'd rather fight for the nation than hide in a desert.

At this point of time no investment is safer than arable land.

One, this is a lease. Two, arable land is contingent on water. I would very much insist on seeing just how much water this land has available before I jumped. West Texas is not known for being overabundant in water.

Who said anything about hiding? this could be an important step in gaining local political control.

its not a desert either, there is plenty of water. If you have a nicer place then good for you, Many folks living in the city would benefit from this.

thanks for your negativity.

You're welcome. Given the track record of your group, I just figured the people here deserved a little insight from someone who has actually seen West Texas. If you don't want people to make an informed decision on this, well, that would indeed be a good thing to know as well. Shall I mention the summertime temperatures too?

Why not? Folks, if by 'West Texas' they mean the panhandle, the summer temperatures will top one hundred F, but not very often. The winters will be cold, however, and prone to the type of blizzards common on the Great Plains just down from the mountains. If by 'West Texas' they mean down south--say Brazos County--you would do well to take a walk in the Mojave and make sure you can take the heat.

Find a better place for 500 bucks where there is water and a chance to live free and maybe Ill take it.

You obviously can afford to be picky, many can't.

thats why this is a great deal.

I do believe Texas is the right end of the country to be in, in the event that bugging out is necessary. Between the Branch Davidians and the cultish Mormon sect raided last year, though, I don't know if I'd set up camp before the shtf. Texas does still have feds aplenty at the moment.

Anyone who has native blood might also consider researching that and getting a card. Going to your relations' reservation could prove a better option if worst comes to worst if you can prove you belong.

Brazos County is in East Texas. It doesn't matter where you are in Texas, the summers get freaking hot. At least in West Texas there is very low humidity. The bigger difference is in the winters. In the panhandle you may as well be in eastern Colorado, in far south Texas it virtually never freezes. West Texas is mostly desert environment and gets colder in the winter than it does here in San Antonio.

I love West Texas. Mountains and desert. Very few people. IH 10 in West Texas has the only stretch interstate in the nation that has some people's driveways connect directly to the freeway. It was determined that building access roads for a handful of families wasn't worth the cost and the traffic count was so low that it wouldn't be too dangerous.

no offense to you, OptionsTrader, but you sound like a paranoid conspiracy theorist.

Uh huh. Think again: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=181958

For your money, you get a teeny tiny primitive campsite. You don't get to know where it is until they deign to tell you (ie never). Even if it does exist, they want to institute some sort of feudal commune there, and have those who bought the campsites live as serfs to the landed gentry who bought the 1 acre+ tracts (they explicitly state in their charter that"everyone pitches in, but old people ie they don't have to do as much or any work").

Only an idiot would buy land without looking at it first. Especially if you are planing on doing subsistence farming. Lack of adequate water or suitable land will get everyone who goes there to "bug out" killed. That's if the land even exists. If you want to bug out, you'd be better off pooling resources with some friends and family and buying a cabin in the woods, or just go into a national park and set up a homestead somewhere.

My bugout location if in Texas is Mosley's backyard!!

Plan B

This is Granny's Plan B for funding her retirement since the lawsuit against Ron Paul didn't get much support.

It's actually not a bad plan. I've got more food than I can deal with, and connections with local farmers if I need more. I'm working on getting outfitted with solar cells. I've got plenty of space, and our neighborhood is pretty close knit, with other survival type people on several sides.

Of course, there is a national guard armory nearby. I'm not sure if that is a plus or a minus, though (which is why I was looking for a backup location and was interested in the Grannie's project initially).
