Well in my area in PA people do not love Ron Paul at all. When I was getting signatures for him I went to over 300 homes and only got two signatures. Everyone loves Santorum and newspapers even say he is in a huge lead in PA from Gallup polls. So I wanted to get a grassroot rally or something in my area going on to get people to know Ron Paul better and even Santorum better. So I come asking if there are people in Bucks County PA or close to the area willing help me out and get people more informed on Ron Paul. If the race stays close like it is. Well then PA could be an important state since we have a lot of delegates. So with a little work we can all make a difference.

Well the thing is there meetup group is more geared for Philadelphia. I want to get something going for Bucks County PA (suburb) since Philadelphia already has people working on rallies and what not.

You can always suggest an event in Bucks County on the meetup group. Not trying to be discouraging - I just think that's going to be the most localized you will get.

your probable right but I know I can find people who are willing to help out!

Im in Mercer Co, NJ, across the river from Bucks Co, PA. Newtown is a bit of a drive from our part of Mercer Co, but I definitely would like to know about activity happening in Newtown... Maybe some weekend I'd be able to come out there. Right now I've been too busy with signature collection in my area here in Jersey, and I got international travel coming up in a couple weeks, but eventually I'd like to come out and help when possible.

I live on the opposite side of the state so I can't be of much help, but I wanted to emphasize the Santorum part. A lot of people on this forum think that Santorum has no chance in PA because of what he did with Arlen Specter. However from what I am seeing, this is not true at all. People absolutely LOVE Santorum in my area too. :(

You're wise to point this out. Our grassroots movement has a couple weaknesses: (1) overconfidence in organization of our supporters and voter turnout and (2) underestimation of our rivals simply because their platform looks weak or deplorable to US the Paulites.

Indeed, Santorum is more popular in PA than people give him credit for. The recent poll I've seen shows him at something like 45% in PA, a HUGE lead over everyone else. My GF is from south-central PA, Franklin Co, and they love Santorum down there. It's a mostly rural county, much like so many others in PA -- probably MOST counties in PA can be considered rural. Santorum is their man. We must not forget that people have a real short memory when it comes to elections, and the fact that Santorum was handily defeated doesn't mean they hate him in PA. Santorum is a very legitimate threat in PA, he's very strong there, and he has a real good chance to win PA unless his campaign comes completely apart and somehow Gingrich manages to climb back up and re-take his place toward the front of the pack. And another thing to keep in mind is that Santorum supporters in general don't like Paul at ALL (in fact, I'd say a lot of them have anyone-but-Paul attitude).

This could be it's own separate thread. SO many good points here. +rep

What about Bucks County Community College, right there in Newtown? I wonder if you could find supporters there that have local roots and would be willing to organize and help spread the message.

Well I live in Newtown, but does not have to be in Newtown Bucks County. I was just suggesting to do something in the suburb since we need to work all over Pennsylvania and not just the two big city in PA.

We are still looking for activists to help out. Now it does not have to be Newton. We can have it in Bristol or Bengals. Juswe need to get to work right now.

I grew up in Bucks County (now live in Seattle) and I have family still there. Both my sisters are RP supporters - one lives in Sellersville, the other in Lansdale. They aren't on the forums, but they do support Ron Paul.

As I remember it and as I far I know it's still true that Bucks County is pretty heavily democratic-leaning. So, I would recommend trying to get those folks out to vote, getting them converted as Blue Republicans focusing on the issues that they care about such as anti-war, pro-civil liberties, etc.

If you get something going, I'll be sure to let everyone I know back in Bucks County about it.

Luckily we vote to select individuals as unbound delegates in PA and the primary means nothing. Trust me i want wins more than anything, Maine was heartbreaking. But in PA it is going to be a tough one to win this straw poll. Although, I think Washington can be our last chance to net a win and get momentum in other states on that front. Hopefully our delegates get good ballot placement and we are able to take a good portion of them.

I also grew up in Bucks County. Levittown/Langhorne. Now I'm in Nevada. But Bucks is not Democratic. It's a liberal Republican demographic. I still have a lot of family and friends there, but no Ron supporters. And after decades of trying, I've given up on them . . . politically.

It's funny, I ran in a five way race there as a Libertarian and got about 15 percent. Got the L party ballot status for the first time ever. And there is literally zero support for Ron in that area. Hard to believe that was a little over twenty years ago and there's nobody left.

Yeah people around here just do not like the guy and prefer dam Santorum. In the local paper they said a gallup poll had Santorum 60% in PA. I went nuts when I read the front cover. I mean give me a break. That is why I want to do something right now in my area. Yes we might not win, but as long as we can get some people to change there mind and vote for him and the delegates we still might end up winning in the long run!!
