Brzezinski : US 'risks Afghan Soviet failure'

Actually pretty valid.

Never thought I'd hear a globalist admit they were wrong,

Apparently the Globalists currently in control value health care reform in the USA more than military imperialism in Afghanistan to complete their goals. I think they are going in this direction to say to fiscal conservatives that we will pay for Obamacare with getting out of Afghanistan, while many people will be good with this (As long as you have an opt out choice of Obamacare), the Neocons are gonna go nuts about keeping us safe, and fight it tooth and nail, I predict.

Brzezinski has a realist strain. He would love to take over Afganistan for his chessboard, but at this point he fears Imperial overstretch. He isn`t insane enough like the neocons to think they can "create their own reality" by willing it into existance. He has some understanding of the limits of US power.

LOL, I love the phrase, "not insane enough." Enough is certainly the operative word, isn't it? ;)

Brzezinski would never want us to make any combat move without first thinking of what it would do for our stake in the world. Look at his book The Grand Chessboard. He talks about the major opponents the U.S. will face in the coming decades and how we must do everything in our power to keep up with them.

He even was a critic of the Iraq war. It wasn't that war is wrong and kills a lot of innocent people. It was that we went in too early and got ourselves cornered. That's what he sees happening in "The Graveyard of Empires". He wants us to make some adjustments to our foreign policy, just so we can really bring the hammer down on our enemies.

The way I interpret this is to create a situation later where essentially the line will be: "We told you so", shortly followed by "America is too dangerous a country to allow its own sovereignty any longer, and its politicians are too corrupt, so the world government will run it now".
