I don't think it is hyperbole to say that if Romney wins the general election than libertarians are done as a national movement for at least the next decade.

Maybe on the national level, but definitely NOT on the local and state level.

I think the good doc has pushed us into the mainstream for the long haul. Romney getting elected wouldn't stop the economy from sliding and the government from becoming a tyranny. The worse the central planners do and the more evil the government becomes, the more attractive our views become. And I don't see the planners becoming any more competent and the government becoming less evil any time soon, unfortunately
