BREAKING: Ron Paul's New Book!

Please put some transparency statement on the bookbomb site about where the affiliate link proceeds go.

I'm fine with it covering hosting costs but I'm a cynic at heart and would like to know what RP programs will be sponsored with the 5-10% affiliate profits the site will earn for each book directly bought through your link. My cynical side goes 'oh wow, someone figured out how to profit from the ron paul supporters in a super easy way'

This would be much like the RonPaul toolbar is transparent, or the blimp, or other RP sites.

Nobody is profiting "from the ron paul supporters in a super easy way"...

First of all, a great deal of time and effort was put into the site.. the graphics, the Flash, the database and PHP backend...

Second of all, the way the links are setup are for tracking purposes. Nobody can see your credit card number. It's the only way to get access to Order reports that say how many pledges translated into orders.

Thirdly, I'm pretty sure that the way the links are setup, it's a violation of Amazon's affiliate agreement, which means I doubt anybody will get paid for that part.

Forthly, the money, if there is any, comes from Amazon and does NOT affect how much the publisher or Ron Paul is paid.

Lastly, if there is any money from it, I will max out my donation to the campaign and pay for hosting, which I've paid for out-of-pocket.

FWIW, I have no problem with people profiting from efforts such as this. Maybe just put in small text somewhere that all affiliate payments will go towards covering hosting/development costs with additional profits going towards the campaign. I think this would actually increase the number of people who use your link rather than going directly to Amazon. Thanks again for setting this up, btw.

Actually, I was suggesting the opposite. I'd like to max out my donation to the campaign before covering hosting costs. I was in such a rush to get all of this working that I didn't even think about adding something like that, but I will.

I don't care which link people use. Trying to figure out how many sales it takes to make a book #1 was a nice thought, but it's not the primary goal.

By the way, we've put Dr. Paul's book at #516 on Amazon! Before we started the book bomb, the book didn't even have a sales rank! It's moving up fast.

Below the product details at amazon's page for the book there is a spot to add and reinforce relevant keyword "tags" for the book. I started it off with a few:

foreign policy, federal reserve, constitution, patriotism, freedom, liberty

Any obvious ones I'm missing people can add, and also you can increase the relevance of the tags so they help in amazon searches.

Everyone who wants to see this book on the national bestseller lists MUST PREORDER THIS WEEK. Why? Because that's how it works. Read this excerpt:

But bestsellerdom isn’t determined by total sales. It’s determined by velocity of sales during a given week.

For example: Author X and Author Y each have books released on the same day.

Author X sells 25,000 copies that week and Author Y sells 2,000.

Author X makes the bestseller lists; Author Y does not.

Author X sells 15,000 and 10,000 copies respectively over the next two weeks and remains on the bestseller lists. Author Y sells 2,000 copies in each of those weeks and is nowhere near the lists.

Over the next fifty or so weeks, sales of Author X’s book tail off so that by the end of a year he’s sold a total of 100,000 copies. Author Y’s book has gained a certain amount of word of mouth and sells 2,000 a week for the entire year for a similar total of 100,000 copies.

Both have sold the same number of copies, yet X is now a "Bestselling Author!" and Y is not.

Why?

Velocity.

Author X’s book sold a ton of copies during the first weeks after release. That’s known in the publishing world as velocity. It put Author X on the lists, thereby increasing his paperback orders and future hardcover orders.

So when you buy matters, folks.

That was written by someone who actually knows about these things - F. Paul Wilson, a well known author who has been in the biz for decades. Read the complete "Bestsellers 101" here: http://www.repairmanjack.com/newsblog.htm (just scroll down a little ways).

I'm going to get my preorders in today.

PS About the Book Bomb web site - the font looks terrible in Internet Explorer. Can it possibly be changed to one of the standard, if boring, web fonts like Times New Roman or Ariel, please?

:)

Great!

Everyone, please login to your Amazon account, add your own keywords and add check marks next to all of the other keywords!

Also, while logged in rate it 5 stars!

I forgot to mention ... you have to be logged in to see the checkboxes and/or add keywords, if you aren't logged in you just see the keywords but you can't boost their relevance.

Also, audiobook version for those interested, I added some starting tags here as well:

Preorders

Preorders are counted as sales on the release date, so they would indeed count toward RP's first-week sales.

Remember, though, just buying from one source won't get him on the NYT bestseller list, which is compiled by consulting booksellers all over the country.

Affiliate

Thanks for the answer.

It goes to help you max out your donation and help get the word out, that's great, and all I was looking for. :)

I prefer ordering through amazon affiliates like the site has - if amazon wants to give a share of their profits away, people might as well try to use it as much as possible. That it helps the cause is icing on the cake.

THIS BOOK HAS GONE FROM 629 to 516 IN SALES RANKINGS IN ABOUT AN HOUR!!!

NOW RANKED 345, ONLY 1/2 HOUR LATER!

If every Ron Paul supporter buys this book, it will go to #1!

Come on, it's only $19.95.

"Ron Paul, #1 Best Selling Author" has a nice ring to it...
