Breaking - ron paul will not seek re-election to congress

I don't think people are understanding, I didnt at first either. A third party run, after losing a major primary, is almost mathematically impossible to win. It is certainly practically impossible. He's running for the GOP nomination. The discussion has to be about winning the GOP primaries or we risk becoming distracted.

i betcha a black man nevers becomes president! oo nevermind;) we already know to win the gop primaries we get it. we are discussing if the gop alienates ron paul like they plan and will! Then we need to have a plan. it sure is not voting for a neo-con or gop establishment! gotta have back up plans and i am sure ron pauls campaign is planning them!

I was bummed about this for about a minute, then realized that we have Justin Amash in the House and Rand in the Senate. And there are always more liberty candidates running every cycle so this will allow us to focus resources on Ron Paul's Presidential run and those liberty candidates.

Plus Debra Medina will run for that seat. That's why she didn't run for Senator in Texas.

Connecticut, Iowa, New York, and Vermont. Those are the only four states that have neither sore loser laws or simultaneous registration deadlines. Seriously, if there's a third party run, it'll be an educational campaign.

End of discussion. I know we're almost entirely volunteers and novices, but it'd help to know the rules before we start mounting more campaigns.

While I'm not endorsing the idea; state sore loser laws are unconstitutional in regards to federal office. They would lose. For the same reason that federal officials haven't been successfully recalled due to state recall laws.

i will get the 500 dollar fee paid and he can run in colorado to under the Liberty Party! If the gop plays the games like they did last time!

You don't get it. He isn't even allowed to run. Obama might've been black, but he was legally eligible to win the delegates of all 50 states and puerto Rico.

I've never done the math, but I'd be willing to bet it's prohibitive to the point of being futile.

Oh, I didn't realize this.

It's not that I oppose an educational campaign, it's just that without a chance of winning, the campaign loses much of its ability to educate.

The goal has to be to win. Education is just the happy side effect :) (and the one I'm most interested in, personally).

I think Ron won't do it, if nothing else, so Rand can win in 2016 if Ron doesn't win this time. But I could actually see Ron 'taking that on' at this stage. I infer that he thinks those ballot access and debate access laws are ruining the country by keeping it under duopoly control.

Yes, I wasn't aware -- given this, I do oppose a third party run.

Honestly, we all deep down inside know he deserves to be chilling on his farm with Carol. Instead he out there kicking tyranny's ass. And that's why we love him. And if we as his supporters can't pick up the torch then it was all for nothing anyway.
