Breaking - ron paul will not seek re-election to congress

Do or die. White House or we just get to expatriate ourselves. A Paul America or find John Galt's Island.

Hmmmm, chances for a 3rd party run should Mitt or another RINO get nominated?!

all i can say is to me this opens the door to a 3rd party run if the gop plays the same games like they did in 2008!! If i was ron paul. I would make them sweat balls over this very fact if the gop keeps the same ole games coming!! no need to play this hand yet but he should have it in the cards in case the corrupt gop leadership marginalizes him again!! obama vs Ron Paul vs obama republicans ,if the gop fails to nominate him at least you have obama vs obama republicans! That leaves my vote Ron Paul 2012 or 3rd party.

I will run!

seriously though, I like Medina but if youre going to be the only bastion of liberty in the Congress you need to be an intellectual heavyweight. Are we sure she is?

Wonder if that money is his Congressional fund will be passed over to his Prez account..

I'm sure that was part of the motivation. First, he can concentrate on his Presidential race, second, Rand is in the Senate now, third, he can put more than a million into his presidential race if he wants....and use it to support a new candidate. It might lessen his influence in Texas caucuses and with Perry coming in (we think) that is an issue, but his supporters will be all the more active, I would think.

This is interesting! He might as well. I mean, it's not like stealing votes from Perry/Romney/Bachmann or whoever the nominee is is going to make anything worse. Obama is a centrist now, just like any GOP nominee will be.

Every single person that wanted him to really try to win and give it his all.

That's vague. I haven't seen it anywhere. Maybe someone said it, you've been around longer than I. I would suspect they were trolls though. However, I did think he might decide to retire later, if he didn't win. I wasn't ready for this, though.

Very very very true. Except he does still have Rand to think about. But if nothing else, it will keep the GOP guessing. Good for him, on that score. And maybe he's paying attention to all those polls showing how he dominates with independents, after all.

If he runs 3rd party, Obama wins.

Sorry to say it.

Running 3rd party would just keep his name in the press and further his awesomeness (haha).

She is damn good. And I don't think our goal should be to only have one. That is rather defeatist, don't you think?

If we don't get one hell of a lot more in there, we're in serious trouble.

Having to campaign locally for congress takes away time from campaigning for president. And campaigning for president is very tiring.
I'm convinced this means he is really in it to win and he thinks he has a decent chance.

If R's were in process of gerrymandering me out of my district (if I were a congressman), I would spread rumors of my plans to retire as well.

I assume he's actually retiring but still a chance he's not.

I'm sure he'd take into account all factors before deciding to run third party if he did. I don't think he is likely to. However, it might depend on who the GOP nominee is, if he doesn't win. And how many Democrats have you heard say they'd vote for him if he weren't running as a Republican?

But, again, I doubt sincerely that Ron has any intention to run third party.

Good decision and I thought it might be coming. Ron's done more than enough for this country and it's time to sit back, relax and enjoy the fascist police state.
