BREAKING NEWS: Kosovo Declares Break from Serbia

It will be very interesting to see the sh*tstorm this causes with Russia and Serbia.

But I thougt that the bombing that the Clinton's did brought peace to the region!

That works every time, doesn't it?

HISTORY: Kosovo, the site of an epic battle between Serbs and Turks in 1389, is considered hallowed ground by Serbs, and the birthplace of their identity. http://snurl.com/1ztck

Here is Serbian President reaction ( what I read about him, he is quite moderate):

Belgrade. Serbia will never recognize Kosovo, Serbian President Boris Tadic said in a televised address, the Serbian media reported.
“Serbia will use all peaceful means so that Kosovo independence is not recognized. KFOR and UNMIK are responsible for preserving the lives of Kosovo Serbs,” Tadic added.
“All state officials and party leaders will act responsibly and together, with maximum responsibility and no extremism,” Tadic noted.
Serbia will not resort to violence, and will use legitimate fight against independent Kosovo.

Here is first reaction from Russian side:

Just read in danish news, that hundreds of demonstrants attacked US embassy in Beograd. Serbian police try to calm demonstrants down. 1 policeman hurt so far.

Russia should let them go but will most likely pull a Lincoln on them. I wish my state would succeed.

So....Do you think Bush will put on his 'interventionist hat' and do something? If so, why and how?

The real thing to worry about is if any of the NATO troops in Kosovo get attacked by Serb forces. We're treaty bound to assist in the defense of NATO member nations, so we'd be drawn into another conflict.

[Sarcasm] Hooray for entangling alliances! [/sarcasm]
