Seems a lot of people here are having that problem. If we are not responsible for what our government does, then why should we be blamed by the people in other countries when it does something wrong?

Your question raises the point of what terrorist organisations hope to achieve by attacking civilians, I've never been fully sure but thought about it most after the London bombings in 2005 I think it was, a couple months after I was down in London for a week. I believe the goal of the London bombers was to anger the public and raise awareness of why radicalists are angry, which of course is because of the actions of the British government (and the American government of course) - their ultimate goal perhaps being to make the public angry at their own government (in the UK for example) instead, and force regime change, or vote for a government that doesn't anger radicalists (i.e by giving Israel and Egypt billions of pounds, war on Afghanistan/Iraq, military bases in Saudi Arabia, etc., etc.).

The really interesting thing is that this is the EXACT SAME strategy Israel is employing in Gaza, attacking the cities of Gaza and telling the Palestinians to blame Hamas, hoping that Palestinians get so sick and tired of the siege on Gaza that they vote for a regime change, or force a regime change. And this isn't just my opinion of Israel's goals - I actually heard Israeli officials talking about this very thing on BBC, etc.

Of course the families of the victims of terrorist attacks mostly blame the terrorists and the families of victims in Gaza tend to blame Israel instead of Hamas. The interesting thing is how similar the strategies of aggressive militaries and terrorists are. And I didn't mean to single out Israel, that's just an example, I could just as easily have used the IRA and British government or USA and any number of countries that they've fucked up as examples.

1) Israel is in Violation of UN resolution and should NOT be occupying the PALESTINE land in GAZA and the WEST BANK ! What they have done is create a CAGE (walls) around gaza and they the IDF only allows ingress and egress into GAZA !! That my friends is called OCCUPYING!

2) Then they Blockade GAZA from food, fuel the basic necessaties for months and that is NOT an act of WAR?

3) In the WEST BANK they destroy houses build by PALESTINES because they claim they have no building permits yet they are the ones that ISSUE THEM !! Bunch of humps!

4) Israel then WANTS FREE USA taxpayer money yearly in the billions then uses that money to BUY military HARDWARE from the good ole USA and uses this to kill KIDS with our money! Makes you feel good inside right?

And why are they launching them? It's ineffective, with no strategic or tactical rational. It makes things worse. Who agrees with them firing rockets?

I can only guess that:

- It keeps all the petty little warlords in Gaza in power.
- When the dust settles, the US will give pallets of cash to both sides, once again benefitting the petty warlords (if they survive).
- It gives some people in Gaza a sense of satisfaction (those that are frustrated, or hopeless, or short-sighted, or violence loving, or Israel-haters). It is sad when killing people is the only way for people to get satisfaction. We have seen too much of that recently.

Firing rockets does not benefit the people of Gaza. They need rational and mature leaders in Gaza. This is not a defense of anything Israel has done, or of the massive amounts of cash the US keeps giving all sides over there.

The people of Gaza need to help themselves. Firings rockets does not help them.

You forget that Ron Paul supporters do not support the U.N. or its resolutions. So yes, Israel is justified in ignoring the U.N. We only wish our own government had the gumption to do so.

Actually, I believe their goal in launching the rockets is to invoke a response by Israel. When Israel responds, they will then hide behind the civilian population and show propaganda videos showing how many of the civilians have died from said response. By doing this, they believe they can gather popular support from the world as well as the other supporting countries in their area.

And the people of Gaza, do they really think the condition of their lives will be better in the future under this strategy? Well, so far there have been a lot of countries trying this approach and they have had limited success. They usually still end up getting the crap beat out of themselves and in the end lose a lot more than they gain. Saying they voted Hamas into power is much like saying democracy is a good form of government. The 49% who didn't vote for Hamas are the ones who will pay the most. The others who did voted for Hamas, may change their minds when it all comes to a head. The big problem is, it is a little late to be changing their minds after the damage has been done.

The Gaza strip is a prison. They will continue to fight as long as they live. They will fight out of hatred for their oppression. The hatred is being escalated every time someones child dies. If anyone brought harm to my children I would also fight until I could not fight any more.
Israel has had the opportunity to settle this but they will not ever. They are fighting over the holy land and will fight forever.

The Gaza strip is a prison...

It need not be. When Sharon turned the Strip over to the Palestinian Authority, the expectation was that they would remain the governing authority and would work with Israel to continue the peace process. Instead, in a violent political struggle, Hamas expelled the Fatah from Gaza and assumed control. It's been downhill since.
