Yup, the trigger was pulled. Didn't really think "they" would do it, but they did.

Monkeyed with the currency, causing rapid run ups in oil and other vital goods right at the time mortgages were at the peak of "resetting".

Too much debt, too much cost associated with decreasing dollar values on all the goods imported, which is everything, pretty much, that people buy.

Hit 'em with a ARM reset, and boom, collapse.

Well engineered, I'll give 'em that.
 
Has anybody noticed that those Congress Critters do the most damage on the weekends or is it just me...?

I say we push for a ban on weekends in our country. It is getting too expensive for me to have them!

Yep, since everything has fallen in just such a fashion that it means most will comply because what is the alternative? Try offering one and people's eyes glaze over and they speak of the futility of using "sound" money. Well, yeah, as long as you continue to allow the people who screwed us to make the rules you will continue to pay them for the priviledge of screwing you. End the Fed protests are treated like they are run by conspiracy kooks instead of people rallying to throw off the yolks of an oppressive quasi-government entity.

our protest in nashville was very well-received. nashville is not aprotest friendly town, and everyone was cheering and honking, didn't see anyone who opposed us.

It cannot be stopped. It will run to its natural conclusion and then we will see a real Revolution.

I am thinking things will get so bad that the people who did this to us will get out of the country to protect their personal safety.

The Remnant will take over.

Wish I could agree. (I really, really DO wish that I could... it's a nice picture).

I concur that it will "run" to its natural conclusion. Perhaps of few of the criminals will leave the country; but as we can see with Obama's cabinet, there are always more of the same (twin brothers, sons, etc) ready to step up and continue the same insanity albeit under a new guise and with a new "mandate" for change (and the propaganda will continue to confuse the vast majority -- if that fails, simply bring on the Goebbels-like lies about foreigners and have another war to rally everyone behind the flag.)

But once the whole house of cards falls apart, I think they will simply "wipe" the books ...and then start all over again with yet another form of fiat currency -- but this time a "global one" run directly under the aegis of IMF/WorldBank/UN or whatever "new" organization they want to create. (While the world holds its collective breath waiting for the "great ones" to save us all with their conference and magical solution!)

And even *IF* a revolution happens, I sincerely doubt that the remnant will take over -- it will be much more likely for a slightly different group of sociopaths to take over. (In part because the true Remnant is just NOT capable of acting in a brutal, sociopathic way, the only time the Remnant can take charge is after a deathly disaster that destroys the sociopaths.)



There was a movie from the late 60's called "The Adventurers" (with Candice Bergin in her mid 20's) that followed a couple of young kids in a Central American country who were orphaned in a "people's revolution" (the ophaned kids being the children of the people in power). Subsequently the "revolutionaries" that overthrew their parent's government becomes a completely corrupt, oppressive military dictatorship in a nearly identical fashion to it's predecessor; fast forward 20 years and the kids (now grown) get their revenge by helping a new group of "people's revolutionaries" to overthrow and install the an entirely "new" government... only to watch it take on (once again) and identical mantle and form of corruption, dictatorship and oppression just like the ones that they replaced.



My point is not that the US will become a military dictatorship (if anything we will have another "political dictatorship" -- we have had several already, Lincoln, Roosevelt, LBJ/Nixon, Bush, and coming soon... Obama) -- but rather that whenever "revolutions" occur in societies -- whoever comes out on top inevitably emulates and succumbs to become the SAME thing as the type of corrupt regime that was replaced. (In essence it is an internecine conflict between warring factions of "brother" sociopaths).

In the US, this means that one crony, faux-capitalist cabal will replace another -- regardless of whether the "revolution" happens via ballots or bullets. As each group waxes and wanes, there might be "lapses" when those in power seem to have "learned a lesson" from the previous disaster, and for a short time liberty and economic freedoms can flourish (a decade, maybe two) but inevitably it will be underminded in much the same fashion as previous cycles.

History doesn't really repeat itself, but it does tend to rhyme.

I know that makes me a horrible cynic, but I just cannot see anyway that it will really change, bar some "bubonic plague" that devastates the cities in a new black death (America was actually allowed to be "born" only because of the "empty lands" created by the epidemics following 1491, which were much more devastating to the native populations than the Black Death was in Europe two centuries prior -- Europe lost somewhere between 1/3 to 2/3 of it's population, current estimates are that Native Americans lost over 9/10 of the population.)

That said, I'm all for the "good fight" and working to "educate" people -- but quite frankly, the vast majority of mankind is just SO DAMNED DUMB, and so DESIROUS of picking a new "king" and "savior" so that they themselves do not HAVE to think... (But alas, the best success I think one can hope for is gathering and "saving" a small limited-size group of friends, and hope to gain some measure of control over local governments for the short term.)

BTW, I *try* to be optimistic... I really do... but its seems that whether in large or in small, people never fail to NOT surprise me.

WTF kind of a marketplace is it when the decisions of Nancy Pelosi determine economic success? Nancy and her cohorts know which banks and businesses are well run? ^^ This right here. How about we launch a massive letter writing campaign? Write a letter similar to this to Bernanke at the Fed and Paulson at Treasury, and what the hell, another copy to Mr. "fixing the economy trumps the deficit" Obama.

Sending them all actual snail-mail paper letters won't change anything but it might annoy the hell out of them and at the moment, that's good enough for me!
