Bradley Manning enters guilty pleas in WikiLeaks case

"I believe that if the general public ... had access to the information ... this could spark a domestic debate as to the role of the military and foreign policy in general," Manning said in court, according to the Reuters news service.
Bump.

Summary:
Maximum sentence of 20 years for the charges he pled guilty on, court martial can still try him on the ones with a possible life sentence, and the prosecutor objected to him reading his statement but the judge allowed him to.

You forgot-they're gonna give him credit for a whole 112 days for his harsh treatment. Guess the other 888 days of torture don't count.

I wonder how much they tortured him first?
I've read about Leavenworth and some of their tactics. Phones ringing with no one to answer them, buzzing lights kept on 24/7, pure cold shower, no reading material or writing supplies, not to mention he was naked for a lot of it. Worst of the worst. I'll be looking for the transcript, let's see if we can't find his statement to the courts.

Very true. Just-us has been served. I wonder what they edited out with their excerpt of his statement. It has '....' and '.....' Let's see if we can't find out.

Here's a gem -
As part of his statement, Manning said that before turning to Wikileaks he had attempted to contact both the New York Times and the Washington Post, but failed. In addition, he stated: "No one associated with WikiLeaks pressured me into sending more information."

Only we the people, the ones he tried to inform of can save him. I am serious, this should be just as big as gun control ,way bigger then who can marry who, this is about FREEEDOM, if we do not stand up for his then the next Bradly manning will never do this service.

I inform all I can about him and his plight. Most people equate him to Bin Laden. It's crazy how the MSM can do that.

One of the excerpts I read listed a reason for the release as him becoming depressed about the situation they were mired in.

Unfortunately, I doubt the transcripts will ever be released. I'm sure his two hours statement would have shed some light on a lot of things.

When I saw the thread title I was thinking GOOD NEWS! - like plea bargain, sentenced to time served.

Guess not :(
