I was considering a run in 2012, and have been told that even at this late date it may be a good idea to get my name on the ballot for the Republican candidate, if nothing else to build name recognition for the 2012 run. I'm not so sure, but the logic seems sound, especially if Etheridge is running unopposed.

Any thoughts? How hard is it to get on the ballot for US House in NC anyway?

Bob Etheridge is a "Chicken Man", meaning he's bought and paid for by the BigAg lobby.

You should definitely run, I know quite a few people in Johnson and Sampson Counties who would vote for you.

I think if you run, you will have to raise funds from regular Republicans. I think if you can get regular Republicans to donate, you should run. Start an exploratory committee and see how it goes.

Well, I was looking at a well funded campaign for 2012, if I jumped on this for 2008, it would be more to get my name back in the corners of peoples minds for 2012, make Etheridge work a little, and force the Neo-Cons to spread themselves a little thinner. I seriously would not expect to do very well no matter how well funded I am, entering this late in the race, so I would not want to waste gobs of our money on what would be a futile effort.

The problem is that if you're going to run as a Republican you're gonna have decide by Friday, the filing deadline for primaries. So there's no time for an Exploratory. You're also, and I imagine this is an even bigger problem for you, gonna have to come up with $1,652 by that time (filing fee). It's quite a price to pay for a run just to build name recognition ahead of a future serious run.

wow, yeah, that's a little more than I had anticipated. I was thinking probably 1000 signatures plus $500. That does change the perspective a little bit. So now I get to decide if I want to head straight for Etheridge in 2012, or take a detour through the State General Assembly.

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I needed to know!

I say try to go for it! No one should have the privilege of running unopposed, especially not if that guy sucks!

I bet you can raise that filing fee on this website if you decide to run. People are pissed at republicans right now... might want to strike while the iron is hot.

Go fit it get with your state coordinator he will help and contact your local or state GOP office they would certainitly like to here from you.
