I don't trust Bob Barr at all. He was a drug warrior who thought he had the right to imprison people for putting substances into their own bodies.

Bob Barr recently joined the Libertarian Party. He said that his differences with them on drugs were not as great as his agreements with them on other things.

Bob Barr is a typical case of a former congressmen who changed his tune (only slightly) the minute he started getting a check from the LP. He is a douchebag and I am glad I left the LP when they accept scum like him.

There is a phenomenon that seems to be happening more and more. A douchebag elected official will do everything he can to destroy our rights while in office, then as soon as he can no longer help us, claims he was with us all the time.

Well, down the drain with these douches. If I hear he decided to tell Mitt Romney he's a heartless, gutless moron and he punched Duncan Hunter in the nose for being a corrupt jagoff, then used this forum to heartily endorse Ron Paul, I may reconsider this. But I promise nothing.

Anyone want to give me odds he won't endorse the only Libertarian in the race?

There are MANY Libertarians in the race running for the LP. Don't worry, "'big" people in the LP are backing Ron Paul and a lot of Libertarians are not too happy about it. There has been a lot of blogging about how people in the LP are not happy with their field and support RP and/or are trying to recruit new candidates.

As far as Bob Barr. Well there have always been a lot of people involved in the LP who are basically Republican-lite, or Republicans who really hate taxes and couldnt give a about the more liberal social policy aspects. If yu used to be in the LP, you know it's a (small) big-tent of nutjobs.

I dont know why someone who works for one party would endorse another, though.

Until he admits HE has contributed to the FALSE IMPRISONMENT of countless individuals and he is ASHAMED for his actions I will have ZERO respect for him.

I agree 100 percent. Bob Barr is hereby nominated for D-bag of the decade. And his co-nominees are anyone in the LP who thinks he's not a total D-bag.

I had heard the party was infiltrated by a bunch of conservatives, but I didn't believe it. Well, I now believe it. I'd been a Libertarian since 1980, and I spoke at the national convention in 1991. It was a principled bunch of people back then. Hard to believe how quickly things change.

Is that so? Who are these "big government goons"? Wouldn't they naturally be singled out when the bulk of the party supports small government? And what's wrong with the platform? I don't like the way the party is going I am just wondering a few things from your post.
