Bo Jackson: I'd tell my kids to play any sport aside from football

I did a little damage , probably neck , hips , back , ribs . I still would have played anyway . Most kids are not going to play with the recklessness that I did so I would guess the avg kid could play Junior High & High School and walk away unscathed .

I will say that there is a marked difference in the player statistics compared to a generation ago (or even a decade or two ago). Kids are getting bigger, sooner, with other kids staying smaller. It leads to some awful situations. The younger ones aren't totally sure of how to hit or take a hit yet, either, so things will get messy.

I always look at someone funny when they say "that QB is so tiny." Normally it's not that the QB is tiny. It's that they're standing next to some 300-400 pound slab, or alongside a 6'5" WR.

My brother was a Division II running back and he said the hardest hit he ever took in high school was every play in college. Can't imagine what he would have experienced in Division I.

Geez these Titan guys are great. I need to start paying attention to the NFL again. BTW is that a drone at 1:12?

P.S. So when did Jacksonville get mustard colored uniforms? I thought they were blue or somethin'..

That is a spider cam AKA Skycam. It is attached to 4-6 cables that move it around the field. NFL have been using them on national broadcasts. That game was Thursday Night Football, they have been doing this "Color Rush" theme for the games, where both teams wear colors. Some of them have to wear all white though- the first one was the Bills vs Jets and they wore red and green. Peopel on B/W TVs or color blind could not tell the teams apart.

True , they are bigger . Only fatality we had though was a guy with a broken neck pole vaulting .

If you see a 6'4", 335-pound dude running at you at that speed...

Can you elaborate on the pole vault injury? When you say "we" what are you referring to? Was this a high school accident or college? Pole vault fatalities are quite rare. Just curious. Most bad situations in the pole vault can, theoretically, be bailed out of relatively safely. But things can potentially go very wrong very quickly. PV was my sport.

Yeah it was my High School , I knew him pretty well too because my Brother pole vaulted and I had ran Cross Country with him one season .

Indeed! Football is harder on the noggin than MMA. Gymnastics is also more dangerous than most martial arts, btw.
