The blimp is a revolutionary project for so many reasons. It is utterly stupendous. An idea was proposed. Demand was demonstrated. The rest just happened.

The blimp is a real world symbol of what we are capable of. It's like the statue of liberty for our time.

January 1st - New Years Day - Let's acknowledge the new power we have as individuals. Let us give a voice to an idea we all believe in, Liberty, by funding the blimp project for an entire year in one day.

What do you think?

So you are suggesting to have a money bomb the day after a money bomb???

http://donate2008.org/

I think it was set up so it would still be in the quarter...:)

PS- Loved the video... :D

Absolutely! They compliment each other perfectly! A money bomb for Ron Paul on December 31st, and a money bomb for blimp on Jan 1st!

Blimp is new liberty. We'd be showing people why we support Ron Paul.

Can I get a money bomb in January for my congressional campaign? I only need $300,000 to compete!
got a forum member working on the fundraising widget right now!

good idea? bad idea? I was thinking after our NH win?

What's with all these money bombs? There are more ways to raise money than to have three of these days a month.

Nov 5th, Nov 15th, Nov 30th, Dec 16th, Jan 1st.......

I mean, I think people like to contribute but it's starting to really get annoying, kind of like someone begging for cash all the time.

And besides, you can only donate $2300 per quarter.

Yeh, that's why i'm reminding everyone..once paul wins NH, new people will come in to donate for him..

we will have several forum members running for congress. If we want to win, everyone needs to be thinking about getting each of us some funds to compete. i'm talking like at the end of january or febraury... I know I can beat my opponent with $300,000. I've laid the groundwork with my last campaign, now i just need to be able to compete in funding...

There is a real danger that core supporters will become overextended and/or numbed. Too many bombs! I think focusing on outreach (including door-to-door and gee-wiz things like the blimp (which will pull in more money "on its own" once it's in the air)) are more important than raising huge gobs of money over the Internet. Once you do something big, doing the same thing, only bigger, doesn't have the same emotional impact.

As long as the campaign reaches 12M on the 16th, I think our money is better directed to independent projects (take a look at the ads OPNH is running, compared to the campaign's ads).

I share your concern. I suggest we form a money bomb committee to plan out the rest of the money bombs. Our numbers are so great. Organizing to accomplish things like this energizes core supporters. Money bombs are something everyone enjoys. They take coordinated promotion. With too many they loose their significance.

I volunteer to promote the money bomb committee's plan, should it decide to form.

No. The blimp needs to get to $400,000 total contributions by December 21 to continue for the rest of the first month's planned operations, according to the website. Nobody should be encouraged to hold off making any contribution to the blimp. The blimp owners need to be paid back for their services sooner rather than later.

true dat.

Here's my reasoning.

1) Money bombs make sense for donations to the campaign because we have no specific goal (the more the better), and because we want to break records to get media attention. They *don't* make sense for something like the Blimp, which has a fixed cost. You don't see money bombs for, say, Operation NH, either. They have a fixed cost ($15k for the next batch of ads).
2) We need to hit $400k by Dec 21.

After Dec 16th is over, we should just rally each other to try to make the $400k by the 21st deadline. It's really that simple.

I hate to piss on your idea - your enthusiasm is commendable. I just don't think it's adviseable to pursue this particular path to your goal.

Surely you believe there are enough people actively watching blimp to make sure it reaches its established goals? Blimp awareness has already been achieved. This money bomb is for liberty awareness. Can you provide any reason to believe that the two would interfere with each other?

Since the blimp is a for profit company, why don't they sell ads?

Having seen the video in YouTube of the blimp at the hangar, 1.) those little sections in the front could be sold as "penant ads", 2.) the space on the top and bottom wings could be sold on either side 3.) There's ad space on the cab. --None of which would detract from the message on the main body of the blimp.

In addition to meeting the expenses of the project, the ads would serve as endorsements.

The single most obvious sponsor is Google, since the artwork already includes their name. Did they already pay for their name to be on the blimp? Another choice would be Pepsi since the inaugural launch is happening from their "home state". As a North Carolinian, I feel it's an honor for this launch to happen here. We've got to have a major corp that would buy an ad. Another no-brainer is a national media outlet, whether print, radio or television their coverage of the blimp directs their customers to their ad and the ad directs people right back to the publication.

Just some thoughts,
Rhonda.

One money bomb at a time, lets plan after the 16th. Plenty of new people joining to get more money and old people getting a new pay check.

.

How much could they make off advertising? With so many people watching it, it could be a gold mine. It would be the perfect venue for other liberty oriented business to advertise. It's called Liberty Advertising! Holy Crap. Let's build all kinds of businesses to support Liberty and advertise them on the Blimp website!

We'll replace the whole corporate establishment in one year. Can we spread this level of awareness to the entire world?

stcik with the 16th, then we will talk of another.....for now, let's not get over extended
