You shouldn't point out that you have "blacks and hispanics" because you aren't supposed to see color. I mean i know thats very PC, but he isn't running for Texas Congressmen anymore. There are some sensitive people out there.

That capped off a pretty questionable debate performance by RP. Sppppppp Spit it out Paul.

I mean I love the guy but jeez he is not smooth sometimes. opposite Bill Clinton in that regard, which is good, but hard to watch. I guess it's like Bob Dylan's voice or something - actually not, it's way more painful.

Who in society today is offended by the terms "blacks" and "hispanics?" I know of no black person who has attacked me for calling them black and not referring to them as an "African American," and I know no latino who has lashed out at me for using the word "hispanic."

You aren't watching then, because many of the democrats have used the term 'hispanics'. They also talk about the 'african american community' so no, there is no 'color blindness' on the other side. Sorry.

Hispanics is a word Latins don't like. They like to be called Latinos, he should skip the color all together and simply say "We have the full spectrum of the American population supporting us."

Ok. I'm officially confused by your point. Are you concerned that Ron Paul mentioned he had black supporters (because he shouldn't "see color") or are you concerned that he didn't say he had "African American" supporters (because blacks supposedly only use that term now.) I can only speak for blacks (since I am one). I always thought the move to "African American" was retarded! Jesse Jackson and a bunch of elitist know it alls got together at a conference back in the 1980s to discuss what black people should call themselves. Supposedly they felt this would "help set the agenda" for fixing the woes in the black community. I kept thinking "Am I the only one that thinks this is stupid? We're in the middle of a crack epidemic and he wants to talk about what we call ourselves?"

So no. I'm not offended by the fact that Ron says he has the support of "blacks". Nor are black people hung up on "African American". Both terms are equally acceptable. (Or else BET would be AAET.) As for "latino" if that's what that community wants be called fine. But personally I like hispanic better because it's gender neutral. (Latino literally means latin maile.) When I took Spanish in HS it always bugged me that "pens" were female and "pencils" were male, but it's their language.

Anyway, the term "black" is a total non issue.

I'm curious, did you happen to catch Paul yesterday morning while he was on Fox and Friends??? He looked tired as hell, tbh he still looked quite tired starting out in the debate. however he did start getting into his stride, though they sure seemed to like limit the amount of times that they field a question to him. I honestly hope he gets some rest so he can hit it hard in the coming weeks.

I'm a proud Hispanic. I absolutely LOATHE the term Latino. Rightly or wrongly, I perceive Latino to carry with it connotations of collectivism and modern day separatism. Hispanic evokes the common Spanish roots most of us share without implying that I'm somehow less of an individual or an American.
