There's also black removable tape, e.g., used on whiteboards to make grids, etc. They come in various sizes but usually relatively thin compared to duct tape.

justinpagewood - this is one of those crazy/genius ideas that hits on so many different levels that it will probably be responsible for an extra $2+ million dollars on 10.19.2011 (assuming it goes viral like I believe it will). How did you come up with it? What was the initial inspiration??

The reason I think it has such serious potential is that it enables all of the folks who aren't inclined to blast out multiple messages to their hundreds of facebook 'friends/former-classmates/co-workers/etc' and twitter followers the opportunity to not only send out a powerful, non-verbal/spammy message, but also, and I think more importantly, strike a very strong chord in the hearts and minds of any of their friends/followers who are part of the massive 'silent majority' who agree with us that the game has been 'fixed' by a corrupt and powerful elite, but who are not (yet) able to passionately/loudly voice their concerns/frustrations/anger in public for all the hear.

also maybe on the day of the money bomb our profile pics and avatars should be completely blacked out. Just a black square.

I hadn't used this before, but it seems pretty full featured. Not sure if there's a way to script quite yet, but it should be doable.

1) desaturate image [ adjustment -> desaturate ]
2) adjust black/white levels [ adjustment -> levels -> move sliders ]
3) add layer [ layer -> new layer ]
4) use shape tool to draw a black line over eyes (any number of lines) [ adjust opacity to 90% and size as necessary ]
5) make the line noisy [ filter -> noise -> adjust slider as desired ]
6) crop as needed
7) save

Just a combination of everyone's ideas. I can't take credit for most of this stuff because there were already so many good ideas out there for this moneybomb before I got involved. The name is perfect, someone put together a good graphic design before I did, I just went with it and modified it a bit.

And I was trying to think how we can simplify it and make it work, so that was the initial inspiration.

That's what makes the grassroots so cool, is that this is like a big corporation where everyone gets to share ideas and test stuff out and see what works. The official campaign does not have this kind of creative powerhouse.

Someone make a new thread with instructions so everyone can see how to do it quickly (sticky it). Update the FB event with instructions too. Add to the blackthisout website a page with generic pics in this mold so people can copy them to fb quickly.
