Here is one of the statuses of this black girl I know:

" is on her hands and knees thanking God! Our President is AFRICAN AMERICAN! And it is BEAUTIFUL! AMEN!"

another black I know:

"is mad she stood in a line in the cold for 1:30hr/min to bubble in 12 dots...but is glad that her ppl are finally takin over the white house."

another black girls status:

"MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK! U CANT TELL ME ANYTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE."

They are not alone. 92% of blacks voted for Obama. I do not care what anyone says, most of them voted for Obama because he is black.

Your comment is coming off as racist. Don't forget they're human just like you. Its the FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN president ever. It's a big step, and shows how far we've came. I would be excited too if I was about to have the first white president ever. Let them celebrate they have the right to.

Think of it this way: 92% the people that voted don't know that there is absolutely no difference between the two main parties and two main party candidates. About the same percentage of those people that were registered as democrats only voted for him because he is of course, black.

I agree with your sentiment, and given our history it is good that we have gotten beyond race to a great degree. But, you would be wrong to celebrate the first white president ever, and I do think they are wrong, though I can understand it.

People are not better or worse because of the color of their skin, and we are not part of clubs divided by race. To say "my people" and mean people who look like me, is a racist sentiment.

I do understand though, and may this be the final nail in the coffin of racism forever.

My buddy is black and he was on Obama's team until I educated him on Ron Paul. His exact quote when Obama became official was, "Fuck him, where's Ron Paul."

And there is a man who judges not by the color of a man's skin, but by the content of his character.

Great men, like King Jr., and our founders, all of whom we purportedly venerate, have identified what is right. None of these problems are new. If only we were to listen to what our heros actually said, and learned the hard way.

Finally, they elected a well connected millionaire as president!

This kind of thing is to be expected. I honestly appreciate the sentiment of the previous generation of black folks getting vindication from this event, but the current, thinking "they have overcome"... yeah, that’s just like Ron Paul said about national pride; any collectivist pride is just a way for lazy people to gain self worth simply by being born: I’m proud cuz I’m an American, a white man, a black woman, etc. It’s just nonsense.

All in all though.... man, they are gonna be sorely disappointed when they get to the mythical "Ease of Living" store and find that no one is working the counter. Welcome to 'the top' brother, you're still screwed.

Let's be understanding and respectful of black Obama supporters' joy at the fact that racism was proven to be truly, for all intents and purposes, dead. But when we hear individuals talk about "my people" and "their people" and "us vs. them" and "group rights," let's never forget the words of F. A. Hayek: "Collectivism is slavery."

You can bet virtually none know anything about his policies, and voted for him for "change". They're gonna get change alright, just not the kind they were expecting....

Exactly. Like jbrace, I too embrace our new African overlords and denounce their detractors as racists.

I personally an not racist at all. I consider racism to be another form of collectivism. But it makes me sad how so many black people are more focused on Obama's skin color than on his stance on the issues. That attitude makes them far more racist than the majority of white people in America.

:p

The economy is already set in motion toward oblivion. Even "The One" will be unable to stop this train wreck. I think folks are in for some bitter disappointment. Let the Dims take the fall for a while. The tide will turn eventually. Here's hoping the GOP learns its lesson from this (though it's unlikely). Maybe now the neocons will switch parties again and go back home to where they belong.

I have a feeling that by the time this presidency is over Obama and his supporters will plant a deep seed of animosity.

Blacks may come to regret this. It's great that we finally have a black president but after Barack gets throught with us he may be the last black president. It would have been far more prudent to elect a black man that isn't a radical leftist.

I had this almost exact thought driving into work today. The 'race thing' is so contridictory nowadays. I as a white male, do not not dare say I voted for Chuck Baldwin because he is a white man (of course that was not my reasoning anyway) but if it was I might be in jail. But any AA person can proudly claim the reverse and thats 'ok'

oh well, life goes on
