Bitcoin Poised to Take Over The Dollar

When they replace the petrodollar with Bitcoin I'll be impressed.

(BTW, I'm not saying it's impossible, but bitcoin has me stumped. I'll stick with silver for now. :)

BITCOIN POISED TO TAKE OVER THE DOLLAR AGAIN

MEANWHILE PEOPLE STILL FALL FOR THE BATTERY SCAM

YEAH , I JUST BUY CHEAP DOUBLE A AND TRIPLE A BATTERIES .

We get AA's for free. Some DJ works the bar and has remotes for his equipment. He only uses the batteries for one day so he knows they'll work. Mr Animal brings them home because they're practically new batteries. Too bad all of our remotes take AAA.

For me, its the point of exchange. Bitcoin is much more fragile than I think most people realize.

Also, "it finds a way" - not nature, but the criminal mind. Bitcoin was created by a human, it can be hacked by a human, or at some point even just a machine. Its simply a matter of time.

I think gold's resistance to alchemy has been proven over time, bitcoin still has some "burn in".

Gold won't replace anything. Nobody will be using bullion to buy gas, food, etc. Reality.

Why not? Are you referring to its physical bulkiness? Paper FRNs have the same problem. We already have the solution in the form of gold debit cards. Our forum comrade helmuth sells something similar (gold-backed debit cards). We know it works already.

This isn't the 20th century. Gold isn't realistic for practical reasons. It is still run by centralized banking. We need fraud proof, decentralized systems.

"decentralized" - Government states are the only entities with the compute resources required to compromise bitcoin, or the communication. That is both technically an economically feasible in an economic catastrophe scenario. Unlike gold, bitcoin can be manipulated or spoofed - its no more impossible than hacking the i-phone or any other device. The government has access to resources that are really hard to comprehend, but trust me - they probably "already have the keys to the bank", so to speak.

Gold, on the other hand, with all its disadvantages, has one significant advantage - it cannot be easily or economically synthesized, and there's no means to programatically compromise it.

If anything I would urge one to include both bitcoin and gold in their strategy, and probably put more investment into gold. I have no dog in either fight - just sayin.

No, blockchain can't be spoofed or manipulated. No, they can't hack bitcoin. They would be better off contributing.

Not to mention, Bitcoin's network hashing rate (securing the blockchain ledger) is a thousand times more powerful than the top 500 super computers in the world. This worrying about compromising the blockchain is so 2014 at this point.
