Who I really rise out of my chair and applaud now is Ron Paul"... moderate amount of cheers.

Interesting exchange tonight on the season premiere of Real Time. It started with Maher calling out Obama on NDAA. The DNC chair Debbie Wasserman makes some lame excuse and then Maher talks about how Paul is really the guy who he is in step with on Foreign Policy not Obama. David Frum then tries to say how it baffles him that Paul has some progressive appeal but Santorum doesn't because he is the guy on the Republican side that supports the middle class.

Obviously, none of these people will support Paul but it does reinforce my belief that Paul would turn the electoral map on its head.

Before you ask, I'll try to find a tube somewhere ;)

I was just about to post this.

Normally, I think Maher is a real dick, but he was actually good tonight. He made it seem as if he would actually vote for Paul over Obama. Naturally, the neocons will spin this as Ron Paul being a liberal, but I think it proves how Ron Paul is really the best candidate to reach out to the most voters on all sides.

Frum comments make no sense. Just cause Santorum has used the phrase "middle class" doesn't mean he actually supports policies which would help the middle class. Santorum is a big-government conservative. There's no track record there of helping the middle class.

Whoa! Plus rep to you for having the endurance to be able to watch a show featuring Debbie Wasserman Schultz AND David Frum!

Well.... back in the day Maher called himself a "libertarian" and ALMOST endorsed Harry Browne before endorsing instead Nader in 2000. He's always walked the line between libertarian and progressive. Perhaps he's coming around.

Once in a blue moon, Maher has some good moments. He's also been pretty good to RP overall.

He did as recently as 2008-ish when he interviewed RP, too.

I think this goes to what both Ron and Rand have said about building coalitions. You have to have a core issue that is important people to get them to examine you because you can never convert enough people to your entire platform to win an election but you can get people to believe that you are the right person for the particular time.

Santorum supports the Middle Class....

Mmm hmm, sure.

Frum trying to sway votes in favor of the insane candidate, odd strategy.

Politics aside, Maher is a really talented and funny guy. He can also be about as brutal as anyone on the planet when he focuses on a target. Which makes him very unlikable as well when you don't agree with him on issues.

Maher seems like a straight up left-libertarian most of the time. He will never agree with Ron Paul on a lot of domestic issues, but he couldn't agree more with things like foreign policy and civil liberties. Honestly I think we can work with people like Maher....there are a lot of areas for agreement and the rest can be debated intellectually without going into fear mongering like we have to deal with in the case of the current Republican establishment.

First video I put up about Ron Paul on youtube, this was around the same time I became a Ron Paul supporter after watching the Gulliani vs. Ron Paul exchange in the Fox debate and the Reagan MSNBC debate back in 07, since over four and a half years ago this video has gotten over 178,000+ views.

I am glad this idiot is at least smart enough to know a good thing when he encounters it but I will not be promoting these words outside of this forum because maher will certainly win us no friends with the GOP.

Frum feels favorably for Frothy? Fretful fiends fearing freedom!
