Bill Cosby 'shocked' at Obama's statement

I'd take Bill Cosby as Prez over Obama any day and twice on Sunday.

sure! - hell, I'd take Christopher Walken, Alice Cooper, Jello Biafro or Zippy the Pinhead over Obama any day of the week! Ah hell, lets drag out the big guns! Steven Gaskin, Fat Freddy or Howard Stern 4 Prez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any of them could do a better job.

I like Bill Cosby...

..and I believe that Obama's criticism was purely political...

..but he was right: the police often 'acted stupidly'

Bill Cosby is an American icon, very influential and is typically an articulate speaker, like it or not.

For him to speak out is a substantial occurrence considering he is usually NOT involved in public rebuking of anyone.
If he wants to speak out against the “one” or against the behavior of cops, let him do it…
Reigning in the power trips is not necessarily a bad thing.

Did Cosby get criticized awhile back for saying that black youth need to get up by their shoe straps and be productive in a society that is not as racist as they make it out to be? Or something?

GREAT COMMENT!

I used to live accross from some black kids who played - Manager of a MickyD's or a drug dealer or pimp was considered a "good job"... talk about a sick sub-culture...

Will Smith has talked about how growing up he used to carry his school books in a pizza box because he got beat up for studying, but then kids started trying to steal his pizza too.

ROFL! I would, I looooove pizza!

I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I'm with Obama on this. The police were complete jerks in this situation and don't deserve to be employed any longer. I hope Obama makes a habit of speaking out against police abusive behavior.

I don't know, he's making it about race. Don't expect him to talk about abusive police powers when it comes to normal people, I wonder why this is given special treatment.

This whole thing needs to just go away as well as politicians and talk show hosts shut up about it. The cop and Gates are both be wrong. There is no story here other than a couple of nitwits bumping heads.

Cosby, despite what he likes to present, is a bit elitist in some of the things he says. Plus, all of the Cosby shows sucked. And then he had the ignorance to put down Roseanne because of "family values." More like they kicked them out of #1 in the ratings. In fact, putting aside the humor, Roseanne and Dan were actually great parents at the beginning of the show's run (later seasons were dramatic) and offered decent morals...not the holier than thou b/s on the Cosby shows. Taken all this into account, Cosby was right about Obama's on the spot "stupidly" comment.

It wasn't just his shows that did so much to ameliorate racism. In the early sixties he got famous for his comedy albums. And they sure worked on me. I heard things racists said, and thought to myself, 'Bill Cosby isn't like that so obviously every black individual isn't what they say they all are'.

As for problems, well yeah. Nothing like spending your life consciously working to prove the folks that make up your race are just folks, complete with human feelings, and then have some black people shoot your son dead because he's changing the tire on a Mercedes. Sound like the Old Deep South where people were killed for daring to show status symbols and being, therefore, 'uppity ni---s'? I'd drink too.

I don't see that as a problem, because minorities, especially blacks are per capita far more often victims of police abuse in America than whites are. Sure I would have loved to see Obama make a statement on the Steven Anderson beating, but any attention drawn to the corrupt state of American police and calling abusive cops to account is a good thing.
