Big Oops: Senate Republicans Just Legalized Sodomy and Bestiality in the Military

Well, from the stuff that was leaked regarding Abu Ghraib, that's already a technique...

I think you're on to something, though. Worrying about what adults do in their own time is rather silly, especially when I have a sneaking suspicion that the removal of that portion of the code may be used for torture.

Much worse, I think, than we can imagine. I've read numerous reports of possible rape of children in attempts to force a parent to talk.

Is it possible that this was struck because of redundancy with a new section of the bill? Just asking. Maybe the new section has "politically correct" wording so a search for "sodomy" or "bestiality" doesn't provide a link.

Good point, and good question.

btw: oral sex is considered a form of sodomy that is punishable via the UCMJ.

Yep. This was archaic code that needed to be removed. This is the type of thing that people get upset about when it still exists in State or local code.

And it is hard to believe that people on a libertarian or Ron Paul oriented forum would argue that we need laws like this, or would imply that lack of such a law equals advocacy of something.

Like the marijuana issue, it is perfectly consistent to not smoke it, to tell your kids not to smoke it, and to advocate that other people not smoke it, and still oppose having laws against it. We don't need a law for everything. As for the bestiality aspect of it, there are probably animal cruelty laws that will cover that.

Does anyone know for sure if this is true?

Yeah , probably everything not the missionary ...

They really didn't care much about what you did in your bedroom... if you were gay, they didn't want to know. According to the UCMJ, indecent acts do not include sex positions or oral sex... they include child porn, rape/sodomy....

Senate Repeals Bans on Sodomy and Bestiality in the Military

CNS News
December 1, 2011

The Senate on Thursday evening voted 93-7 to approve a defense authorization bill that includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, it also repeals the military ban on sex with animals--or bestiality.

U.S. Senate votes for Indefinite, Unconstitutional Detention

The Senate has voted to authorize indefinite, unconstitutional detention of terror suspects in the United States and around the world — viewing even the U.S. as a battlefield and trampling on the Constitution.

This bill was full of all kinds of heinous, anti-liberty provisions, and the part that has you worked up is that some soldier might, theoretically, be able to have sex with a sheep?

Really?

Look, the UCMJ is an archaic document, full of ridiculous provisions, that, while on the books, are NEVER enforced.

I used to amuse myself when I was on CQ duty reading it. It's almost comical.

That provision, btw, made it illegal for any soldier to give or receive oral or anal sex with ANYONE, male or female, including his or her spouse. Do you really believe no member of the military ever receives a blow job?

I think your hysteria over the possibility of "man on goat" sex within the military is probably equally ridiculous.

That portion of the bill was a formality to remove a portion of the UCMJ that is never enforced, just to prevent anyone in the military from using it as a back-door method of persecuting gay soldiers.

There are plenty of reasons to oppose the bill- this provision is NOT one of them.

I wonder how ole Rick Santorum would have voted on this one! He is so vehemently against gays and things like this. He even mentioned it in a debate about bestiality. Yet, on the other hand, he is in strong favor of detaining terrorist suspects and violating our 4th amendment rights. I think that should be a debate question to him next time! Would you vote for this bill considering what it had inside it!

NO.
It is the very real possibility that soldiers may use sodomy on American citizens as a means of torture.
It has just been legalized.

I could care less about the sheep. Other than a possible follow up that declares suspects as "less than human".
