Still wondering when it became legal to make race and sex primary considerations for hiring federal employees...

President Joe Biden has settled on Ketanji Brown Jackson as the nominee to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court, he confirmed on social media.

Jackson currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit after narrowly passing Senate confirmation in 2021 with a vote of 53-47. Three Senate Republicans joined Democrats to support her nomination.

The White House expects the decision to be announced on Friday as the president stated his desire to have his nominee selected before the end of February. He also likes to spend his weekends at home in Delaware.

Jackson does not have a distinguished reputation as a judge. Although a graduate of Harvard Law who clerked for Justice Stephen Breyer, Jackson has not built the reputation of a powerhouse judge. She has only been an appeals judge for less than one year. Prior to that, she was a federal trial judge in D.C. who was often reversed by higher courts, and critics describe her writing style as “clunky.”

Prior to being a judge, Jackson worked as a public defender, creating an easy target for Republicans that Jackson is soft on crime, especially during a time when many Democrats are still calling for defunding the police.

The president chose a black woman, calling it “long overdue” for the Supreme Court. Critics are likely to say that Jackson’s lack of a distinguished resume makes Biden’s choice of her a matter of racial preferences, rather than choosing the best liberal judge for the nation’s highest court.

Talk has also started in Washington about how the massive “dark money” ultra-liberal billionaires’ group Arabella Advisors has been pushing Jackson, over the other short-list finalists whom many conservatives considered more formidable.

“The person I will nominate will be someone with extraordinary qualifications, character, experience, and integrity, and that person will be the first black woman ever nominated to the Supreme Court,” he said in January, announcing his intent to keep his campaign promise made during his 2020 presidential campaign.

Well, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is informally known as the second highest court in the land, and has a very long history of anti-liberty rulings and leftist/Marxist judicial activism. So, if those two facts tell you anything...

Democrats naturally gravitate to people who are not qualified which was proven by the more recent selections for election of Gore , Kerry , Clinton , Obama , Biden , Harris etc. Of course she is chosen based on race and gender so qualifications are of no matter. The really tough questions havnt been asked though, does it matter that a supreme court justice knows nothing of a constitution they have no intention to uphold anyway ? Is there even a purpose to the court , does it provide service to the citizens ?

No experience and no history to evaluate. Disqualified.

In other words, by no means the best or most qualified. Disqualified.

Pushed by Soros and friends. Disqualified.

This is a typical example of Democrat negotiating. They ask for something outrageous as a starting point, and are always surprised when the GOP goes along with it. It's like Nancy Pelosi saying she wants a special $10 trillion spending bill, expecting that she might get $500 billion, and then the GOP counter offers $9.9 trillion and declares it a victory.

This nominee seems to be less qualified than Kamala Harris or Sotomayor.

She's black.

She's female.

Shut up, racist, misogynist, cisgenger shitlord.

My bad. I was just informed by pundits on Special Neocon Report with Brett Baer that she is a very highly qualified nominee, will provide a wonderful balance and will finally make the Court look more like America.

I think I found an old college photo of hers

Trump made no secret that he was going to appoint a woman and neither did Reagan. And everyone knew a black conservative was going to replace Thurgood Marshall. Anyhooo....Mitch McConnell already promised Biden's next pick would be treated better than Brent Kavanaugh was treated so ....I dunno what'll happen. The balance of power won't shift one iota. And this will tick of the feminists, but I think she's cute.

Ok, I'm no lawyer, but work in policy and I've been trying to watch some speeches and previous hearings. A legal scholar, she is not. But she seems eloquently able to describe her perspective. When you listen to her, she sounds very young for her age. But she also seems to still be learning.

Obviously, whoever we get is going to be on the hard left of the Court. I'm not so sure that having her occupy that spot would be such a bad thing. What really sucks is that Biden hung a label on whoever got selected. He said that the nominee would be chosen because she was a black women - extremely narrowing the field of potentials! No matter what the next Judge does, she'll always carry that weight. (Way to go, Brandon! You managed to do the most racist thing in your life at the end.)

I'm sure I made the same remark at the time, I've only brought it up numerous times now because Biden has stressed the counterpoint so often: "I will not nominate anybody but a black female"

Period.

So you and I, regardless of other shortfalls in our resume, are dismissed out of hand, before the selection process even started, by virtue of being the wrong sex and/or skin color.

From the gov's EEOC website regarding promotions and advancements:

It is illegal for an employer to make decisions about job assignments and promotions based on an employee's race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.

That's clearly a violation of EEOC regulations, subject to fines up to $300,000 as the fedgov employs more the 500 people and, unlike many other fatwas and mandates our oppressors lay down on us, the fedgov is not exempted from following these rules.

I realize it's a rhetorical point, nobody in Clown World cares or will be held accountable for this...2 + 2 = 5.

All that said, she is easier on the eyes than Ginsburg, that's for sure.

Fair point. I wonder what religion she is. It’s no secret that currently there are only Catholics and Jews on SCOTUS. Why no Protestants in a majority Protestant country?
