I wish I would have understood this 15 years ago instead of following the Dave Ramsey model. You can't save like there's a gold standard when we don't. I would have had way more net worth today.

I'm currently on the Dave Ramsey model. I have plans to segway to more profitable methods, but I have to first set up firewalls to prevent what happened to me in the divorce from EVER happening again. I'll bury my treasure on a friggin' desert island if that's what it takes. NEVER AGAIN (by the grace of God, that is). Debt courts, divorce courts, etc. are the literal hounds of hell...

My last job-search was over 6 months long. Typical job-search for me is around 3 months. I don't think the wonkiness in the market has anything to do with fundamentals -- it felt to me like everybody was desperate to find help, but I was still somehow not what they were looking for despite copious qualifications and reasonable salary expectations. It's just more Clown World weirdness. They're trying to spin the narrative that digital workers are no longer needed (because AI) and, at the same time, that the economy is crumbling from lack of workers. I don't know who to believe anymore, and I don't care. What I do know is that you can't keep pushing this particular narrative without blood in the streets. History proves that the People will tolerate endless abuse, but when you start starving them en masse, that is the doom of the Establishment. Every empire in history has tried to play God and abuse their People to the point of flagrant tyranny and mass starvation. Every empire in history has ended in a heap of ashes. The empire emanating from DC will be no different.
