I've been reading about the concept of Umwelt, which is a German word meaning how we each perceive our reality.

If you walk through your neighborhood, you're likely to notice your neighbor's lawn needs mowed, their new car, or someone's mailbox is full so they may be out of town. Your dog walking through the EXACT same neighborhood will notice where other dogs have walked, where chipmunks have dug, or the puddle where he can get a quick drink. Same goes for different people. It's all a matter of what draws our attention and what meaning we apply to it.
