Yeah, the current class of AIs -- ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion, etc. -- are the mental equivalent of a block of clay. You can use them to make other, interesting things, but just by themselves, nothing to really get excited about.

I'm still not sure what China gains by spying on 15 year old Americans.

They do gain by fostering a blinkered, dumbed-down populace by putting utter nonsense in front of them 24 hours a day, however.

They don't need to attack. They can just turn the US into Idiocracy. Which is, by the way, a job we're half doing for them anyway.
