I remember those days well. My school had an underground shelter that we were to go to if we had a warning. My family had a very small underground shelter about 8'x8'. It was a very scary time to be a kid. My younger brother and I plotted to run home from school thru the storm drain pipes to the back of our house to save our dog and pet chicken. My older brother found out about our plan and told my parents. They were very shook up about it to think we would run off by ourselves and told us we were to stay at school if it became apparent that the bomb went off or was going to. We would have gone home to save our pets in spite of what our parents said though. My parents knew how much a rebel I am and everyday they told me to stay at school and God would protect our pets. I am pretty sure I would have gone home to my pets I did not care what anybody said.
